anon just finished his divemasters course (long time coming)
is there any real point in taking it to instructor level and beyond ?
most instructors i know seem to get pretty jaded pretty quick, and the money isnt amazing.
i already know the kind of tossers you have to deal with sometimes, but thats a minority imo
what do you reckon, scuba bros of /out, is it a meme or...?

I only have an advanced cert but I'm looking towards getting the master's cert. I always thought you could easily get a job at some sort of resort or tourist-y business dealing with scuba.

get the masters, maybe dont get instructors
spend some time working as a DM and if you still want to be an instructor, i take my hat off to you
>patience
>americans
>loads of fucking americans
I would consider it, if only for the opportunity to work around the world with something you're passionate about.
Then again, if you're not a very patient man when dealing with less clever folk, you might want to think it over, since it's your job to make sure they're reasonably safe to let loose on their own after the course, not to mention getting them safely through the course.

Depends on what you want out of it really. If you just want to dive with your mates then DM is fine until you want to start doing Tech courses.
If you want to do it as a career then good luck. Money is shit, students are all idiots and to do it professionally you pretty much have to live abroad (not a great demand in my country at least.) But everyone I know who does it loves it because it's a lifestyle thing, depends on what you want out of it. I used to work in a dive centre in Gozo and it wasn't my cup of tea.
I'm a BSAC instructor and I choose to instruct for my club. No retards, good diving with my friends but I don't get paid for it - it's just a hobby for me, I do it because I love the sport.
Seriously man, good luck if you go for it
