Pyrite, or more commonly fools gold.
If you want to fossick for real gold OP, look for gold in quartz or ore bands. Also rember, gold doesnt come out of the gound shiny and polished. It comes out like pic and is then crushed and refined. Sometimes it will be green and tarnished depending on its exposure to the elements.

I used to collect pyrite/iron disulfide from my driveway as a kid. Some of it was really cool with balls of crystal.
You can use it to make sparks for making a fire.

Am I on /b/?

Boy howdy! Looks like you found some one hundred percent true and blue gold!!

That's pretty interesting OP. Pyrite like that may indicate the presence of a mineralising system on your property. Do you know what the local geology is? Is there a history of mining in your area?
> own land in mexitron
Stopped reading bait there.

pyrite in iron ore.
Fools gold is neat

I found this the other day. People telling me its a type of geode or something. Didn't want to create new thread but think most of you guys who knows rocks on /out/ would still lurk here.

Looks like agate to me

protip : gold in the wild doesn't shine.
Gold only shines in Hollywood movies actually.
you'd know if you ever had some in your hands

Another Pic. I checked it out and looks like what you said. Allot of quartz where I'm at so make sense.
How do you guys polish your rocks/minerals?
>>833397
that´s a screw.

It could be amorphous rock like glass or quartz.
Quartz has a property where it fractures conchodally like that.

There is heaps of mineralization in Mexico, somebody probably already has an exploration lease on your land
If I were you, I would be looking for geological maps of my property or see if their is any documentation for past exploration.
Price of metals are pretty good at the moment

nice pyrite
