Looked at the catalog, didn't see a thread about NH, so let's start one? Cause I need some help /out/
Where should my gf and I go camping in NH?
We're going tent/car camping for 4 days. I have no clue where to go.
Picking a campground is easy, but is there any non-site trails we can park, hike, find a spot and set up camp? Somewhere we don't have to pay for a spot, where it's legal to just go to and camp out. If that's actually possible in NH, I don't know. That's why I'm asking you guys
What area of NH do you like to be /out/ in?
Also, are there any specific things I should bring, or just the standard camping/hiking stuff?
Sorry if I hijack your thread OP but does anyone know any good places for a scenic hike in the white mountain region, specifically off of the Kancamangus highway? It has to be a hike that can be completed in one day and be back where I started before dark. And I'm not looking for anything where I have to climb cliffs or anything (terrified of heights, okay with climbing mountains as long as there are no shear drops)
I've driven the Kancamangus highway once and it's beautiful but otherwise I'm very unfamiliar with the region so I appreciate any help.
Lakes region is nice, there's a ton of campgrounds up there.

Pawtuckaway State Park. Swim to one of the islands and don't pay. Sweet paved roads to longboard night/day

This. Me and my buddies did this a few years ago. Cozy camping and great fun on the islands. If you can snag a canoe, do it and bring some beers or something. Just pick up afterwards of course.
