I'm looking to get into fishing and heard this was pretty good starting gear for a beginner. I want a very small amount of gear so I can keep everything in the trunk of my car.
What else should I look into getting?
No.
No no no no.

Why and suggest an alternative plz

I've done a fair bit of trout fishing with a cheap old Ugly Stick, they are fine. Get out there and fish, see if you like it, and scale up to something fancy or get into fly fishing once you know what you like.
get the iron man reel. i like iron man

Did you buy it yet or do you want me to post some advice on how to do it the right way?
If you really want to make it a hobby, don't get that. You will need to replace some stuff immediately and the rest you won't even touch after a month.

Buy the Ugly Stik itself, not the overpriced little pack you're looking at
Also, look up what kind of fish are in your area, then look up whats best to use for them.
fishing thread is *literally* still on the first page >>808502 → are you really so lazy you can't scroll down?

good starting combo and make sure you get some of the bug spray under it. Fishing is buggy business.

so (your) correct way would be buy $1000's in lures of all diferent color to feed your OCD need to collect them? I've seen pictures you've posted of your gear.

Eventually...
But there are much better choices than that Shakespeare combo if somebody is really looking to get into it. The kit in that pic is good for your 5 year old son or if you are going fishing (aka drinking beer) once and never going to use it again.
And color choice is important!
