If I keep water in these more than 12h it starts smelling bad.
It's really not good since I need it for long trips, and I don't really have a chance to wash it properly.
Anybody had the same problem?

I use steel bottles or just a regular big plastic one from the mall.
It's ok as long as you store it inside the backpack.

Try this as an experiment. Bring a metal cup with you. Poor from the water bottle into the metal cup and drink like that.
What I'm thinking is your natrual mouth bacteria is contaminating the water, possibly giving you a gross smell.
Yep mouth yuck backwashes in and sets up shop. Also other contaiments get in from other sources.

A small splash of bleach in your drinking water will help keep that smell away.

This might be it, weirdly enough happens only with the hydroflask.
Not any other metal bottle I use.
I own several hydroflasks and have never had this issue. My ice cold water always tastes excellent.
How often do you wash your water bottle? Do you use one of those long scrub brushes to really clean the bottom?

Are the hydroflasks worth the price or would I be better of just buying a normal plastic bottle??

Personally, I think it is.
Every time I go on a road trip or outdoors with others, they always complain about their hot and nasty water. Meanwhile, I am guzzling down my delicious ice cold water.
Think of it as an investment. I live in Texas and spend a lot of time outdoors and on the road. I suppose if you lived up North somewhere it might not be worth the money. But here, it's worth every penny.
I never use my Nalgenes now.

>How often do you wash your water bottle?
Every day considering how quickly the stench comes back, problems is I don't have the time to clean it if I'm on a week long trip.
And this started happening with bottled water fyi.

They're not as good as they say, I kept mine in my backback while I was riding 7-8 hrs a day,
isolation didn't last more than that, the water I had put in it in the morning was warm at the end of the day.
Also mine takes up as much spaces a 1.5L bottles wile carrying only half.
But hey I got it for 15€.
