Anyone have any good BoB/Innawoods pack configurations and bags?
I'm looking at stuff from Hill People gear and Mystery ranch. Looking for something 3 Day Assault Pack sized, more or less, lightweight optional hip belt, external webbing/straps preferably.

Those are expensive packs.
Have you tried surplus store?
Shooting for a relatively lightweight overall load out that's still very capable for camping, sustainment, and just chilling in the woods. List so far.
It's a lot, but I want a lot of capability. Tell me where I can pair down.

In my book it's worth it. The less you have to fuck around with your gear the more you can worry about everything else that requires brainpower.
I've done treks with 40lb+ loads with everything from $30 bags to $300 bags. Plunking down for the gear that does the better job is worth every penny.

Tactical bags are universally shit if you actually plan on covering real ground on foot. You should be looking at civilian backpacking bags. I'm personally a fan of Osprey.
Unless you just want to look cool and play army, then go for it. Otherwise, tactical / military style bags are outclassed.
And don't even try with the durability argument. Think about it a little bit before citing that.

Do you just mean in terms of weight? I absolutely agree. The 500 and 1000 denier bags are heavy as fuck, Maxpedition, SOE, TAD, Eberlestock, Condor, Eagle Industries etc etc. MR leans much more toward this category, that being said, HPG uses a lot more modern materials pushing their equipment into the same class as Osprey, Gregory, Arc'teryx etc. That's why I'm leaning towards HPG.
I love Osprey, I actually have two myself, just nothing in the size that I'm want for this configuration.
Well, it all comes down to construction, stitching etc, but you can't tell me that 1000 denier cordura is more fragile then modern ultralight materials.

Need thoughts on the loadout. Is it too much? Can anyone give me a ballpark for current weight? I'm guessing around 35lbs.
Things to pair down on? Lightweight alternatives? Redundant elements?
Ultralight load
Very /out/

What pack/brand is this? Please n thanks.

What is all that gear for? Carabineers always do it for, they're intrinsically cool.
>>799335
>3 Day Assault Pack sized,
What are you assaulting?
>>800088
Yeah, especially the kong carabiners, they cool as fuck. That and cobra buckles hnnnnnnnnnngggg.
So at first I just assumed it was a climbing rig, but then I saw the marlin spike so I was like, "Oh well maybe orienteering or rigging? Maybe something maritime?"
And then I reverse image searched it. Apparently it's a bondage kit. Welp.
It's still cool gear so fuck it.

The 3 Day Assault Pack is Mystery Ranch's most popular pack. So I mean so say something in the realm of 32 liters. I feel like that'll be enough with still being relatively lightweight.
>>800250
Pioneering, not otienteering
>>800250
>cobra buckles
Awesome too
>Mfw cobra buckle with steel d ring.

Truly the master race
>>799380
here's what I would drop
-space blanket
-sleep clothes
-camp shoes
-one bandana
-bear can
-UTM protractor
-altimeter
-flashlight
-fixed blade
-zip ties
-thread
-baby powder
-towel
-wire
-rangefinder
most of this stuff is redundant with the other gear you've got assuming you're competent at orienteering and not dying
>>800569
The sleep clothes are a necessity for avoiding hypothermia.
The fixed blade might be able to ditch for a folding saw
Everything else is sensible
More bag porn. Posting it as I find it.

Swedish lk35 is a good inexpensive choice. Add a kidney belt and you're good. It's not very tacticool if that's your thing but its a good 3 day and weekend bag. Bought mine off eBay for around 50 after shipping & handling but I bought a "like new" one. A used one is cheaper than that.

So for the rule of 3's I have a little update for you
>3 Weeks without food
>3 Days without water
>3 Minutes without oxygen
>3 Seconds without Hope
was taught to me by a marine while I was in WEMT school, he said he had seen good men with plenty of supplies and skills fail because they lost hope.
I have an FILBE assault pack and I think it's great. It serves me well as a 3 day. But I'm more minimalistic than most.

You're really not going to have lightweight as an option with a list like that.
>>799380
ditch the patrol cap and just carry the sun hat, unless there's a compelling reason to carry the patrol cap
maybe only the headlamp, but having a backup light is good
only carry the trauma kit if you know what you're doing with it's contents
baby powder unless you chafe lots
>>801030
>baby powder
>>799380
What's the content of your first aid kits?
Anyone have any experience with the Kelty MAP 3500? Seems pretty good and cheap, considering buying one for smaller trips.
