I live in England so I can just walk a few miles in any direction and come back to civilisation and I won't die of hypothermia or overheating.

Figure out where I was.

Find a high vantage point.

Walk towards civilization.

If I couldn't find any, I'd start to build a shelter, and start a fire. I started a fire once with a bow drill. It was dry as hell and ideal conditions. Honestly doubtful that I could do it again with no practice.

In Canada "in the woods" can possibly mean hundreds of kilometers or more from the nearest inhabited area, so trying to walk out might not be the best plan. Odds are you'd drink bacteria infested water and shit yourself to death in a few days. You'd really need some kind of water purifying and carrying method ASAP. Also, even in summer it can get cold enough to endanger your life if you have no clothing or shelter.

Probably the best thing to do would be to stay put for a while and try to make some basic tools and materials. Most places don't have great tool-making stone, but you could manage. At the very least make a birchbark kettle.
