What you should be worried about is not that they bend; you are worried that they stay in the ground. The wind wont bend these. Only a hammer or your own hands will bend these.

It's a decent design, they'll do fine for most types of ground. All of mine are lost/castaway pegs that I've found at campsites.

As lame as it sounds I've actually been looking at tent pegs lately (have had too many rust / bend / not hold the rope) and those seem to be the best all-round design. They're light but if you look at their structure they'd be almost impossible to bend / break. The greatest threat to these pegs is losing them.

I have a set made by MSR, they have a hole near the top with a piece of cord tied in a loop to make it super easy to pull out. They've been great for 7+ years.

Also, you can put two stakes next to each other to make a handle to push other stakes in; mine are strong so I can put my whole weight into it if its hard ground.

Same here, MSR groundhogs, and they have done fine for many dozens of trips. I do use 4 of the MSR cyclones on the corners because I have had the groundhogs pull out in 40 MPH wind.

The only stakes I have had that didn't bend but still worth a shit were the old durapegs but they are no longer made.
