Found this while I was cleaning some bass earlier. It looks like a worm and it's definitely alive. Is it still safe to eat the fish?

ideally all freshly caught fish should be flash frozen for 24 hours to kill any residual parasites and their eggs.
parasites in fish are relatively common, but they are parasites for fish. which means you are a poor host even if you do get infected. worst case scenario is something tries to burrow into your intestinal track and then dies because it cant survive in a warm blooded mammal which makes you feel bad for a day, but it's not something that can kill you unless there is something else horribly wrong with you.
so freeze it, then eat it later. or, just make sure you fully cook it if you want to eat it today. those are the general rules to follow.
I dont know specifically what that thing is, but this is how i was taught to handle parasites in salt water fish.
I rec you watch this video. It will help you in the future when cleaning fish

They can
Marine mammals are part of many of these worm's life cycles

Actually all the human parasites are the ones that didn't evolve to infect us. That's why some parasites end up in places like our brain where they kill us.
