>promoted to run camp from just a counselor
>camp has no traditions or events beyond activities

Need ideas /out/. What are some things i can do to make the summer awesome? Ive only ever been to computer programming camp and this is more of an outdoor camp on a college campus.

What were your favorite camp activities, traditions, traditions?

Rehab was the best camp I ever went to
>kayaking
>hiking
>rock climbing
>mountain biking
>sauna
>hot tubs
>endless supply of books from local library
>learned how to cook at 10,000 ft
>no women under the age of 29
>no access to porn, had to use my imagination
>learned how to meditate
>horseback riding
>fishing
>culture of banter
>no faggy songs like at that Christian camp I went to when I was younger
>real nigga hours with my fellow participants where we snuck off to do peyote extracted from the nearby cacti
only thing it was missing was riflery and archery, 2bh.
>>
>>748665

Fortunately we have both a rifle range and archery. I just feel like they pay a lot of money to fuck around dall going from activity to activity. I feel like there should be more color or culture to the camp. Like more of an identity. I dont know if that makes sense.
>>
>>748667
you can't just enjoy being outside? you have to be extremely white about it?
>>
>>748670
Is it really so cut and dry that i can just cart kids every day to kickball and paintball and rappel tower until they go home one day?

Im tryna make a quality summer camp. If less is more then id like to know that.
>>
>>748674
Definitely make up a mildly racist legend about native americans and the founding of the camp
>>
>>748674
Tell em about ol' dindu who lives in the woods and eats children.
>>
>>748674
Kids like being occupied and can see through bullshit more time than people give credit for. Seems it's already plenty fun without a forced traditions. What rifles do you use?
>>
>>748687
This desu, although initiating the older members into the Mythraic mysteries might be fun.

I usually hike at that height and can't see a significant difference from cooking at sea level. Your instructor trolled you hard m8.

.22's, only because the ammo is cheap and we get to shoot as much as we want for free. Sometimes the RSO will release the higher caliber stuff to employees. They have quite a nice armory for the school's rifle team.

One of my buddies has gunsmith stamps so he'll bring things like tommyguns to shoot which was fun. I'm not an attorney but he basically explained that being a professional gunsmith let him own & renovate firearms like that. I once found some historians to come out with some Springfield 1861 and 1863 muskets and we shot those together. My buddy and I went to school there, so they let us do a lot of shit. Or we just did it anyway because its an underground rifle range, no kids around, and nobody knows except the RSO's who were cool with it.
>>
Developing teams, rankings and merits systems is not pc. Although it is the best way to develop a fun culture.
We actively seek challenge and purpose and children/young adults do it more.
Not gonna lie I'm jelly op. Creating or giving a place for teen created "underground societies" may be fun as long as you have a good monitoring system on the kids. Designating the leaders and having them bring kids in with silly rituals and stuff. Wearing a certain insignia, secret meeting place they have to navigate to on their own, etc. Who knows you may start the next skull and bones. Vows against alcohols may be necessary.
>>
OP- is it day camp or overnight?

Length of sessions?

Ages?

co-ed?

Part of the country?
>>
>>748657
Campfires with skits/songs and an end of the week game like a scavenger hunt is a safe bet. Get a list of funny/goofy camp songs for your staff to sing at every meal/campfire.
>>
>>748665
My rehab wasn't nearly as much fun. I'll have to pick a better one next time.
>>
>>749618
You get what you pay for. If I ever have to go through rehab, I'd be detoxing under a bridge.
>>
>>748657

We don't really have camp scout shit. But when we get new guy we always put a .5 meter piece of boerewors in his bed/sleeping bag.

Fuckers are so scared of snakes and we milk the fuck out of it.

Good times.

Other than than we get pissed and have a guy or two sober , so we don't get shot by niggers when we sleep.

Good times.
>>
>find attractive counselors
>convince them to fellate you
>??????
>profit

That and get the little fuckers some soccer balls.

That should take care of a lot of spare time, assuming they aren't too apathetic to play outside.

This. Traditions are a thing that just happen, you can't invent them. It's like the real-world equivalent of a shitty forced meme
Just let people have fun and traditions will come with time

I'm not sure I understand
>>
>>748687

Let the kids decide, anon. Don't ask then to invent traditions but get their input on special stuff they wanna do and the culture will emerge.
>>
>>749331

This, family. I think how old they are makes a big difference on what you do with them.

Depending on the age and social status if the children they are probably not familiar with the concepts or even experienced in social circumstances. It is a sad fact of today's generations. Things like the socioeconomic background of the kids is important. For example if there is a contingent of inner city immigrants, a bunch of getto kids, or a slop of white kids, the aproach will have to be different.
>>
>>750169
Furthermore you find alot of level up n33t culture in today's society. I imagine college kids may be socialized enough but there is people for whom camaraderie is a lost concept. It's all about competition and one-uping everyone else with no real sense of sportsmanship.
