I'm heading out west at the end of March. Planning on going to Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and New Mexico. If I want to hike a mountain, will the trails still be covered in snow?
>>
Depends on where and how high you'll be hiking, but the short answer is yes.

Yoy beat me to it!

southern NM should be fine.
northern NM will have snow above 9000 feet prolly and lots of mud below that number.
also spring is not the best season for the southwest.
lots of wind and the pollen travels for ever

I'm mainly going to southern Utah. Will this be a disaster?

There will most likely be snow. I took a long trip out west last year and half of Yellowstone was closed, half of Glacier National Park was closed still due to snow. Southern Utah you might have better luck, if I remember correctly it's usually around 4,000 feet there, but I camped at 9,000 in Dixie National. I went to Chessman's Ridge which is 10,500 I believe and it had some snow, but it wasn't absolutely brutal. Weather is fickle out west, just check forecasts and use common sense, you'll be fine. I'm actually heading out there permanently hopefully to relocate and find work and start a new life out there. Maybe we'll bump into each other.

Grand Canyon National Park.

Best park.

.... bait?

Definitely yes. Altitude dependent. Some mountain passes will not be open until July.

Probably some LA or Phoenix shitter who's never been anywhere else

you can look up specific trails for closures, but yeah im pretty sure they have snow in the mountain trails.
not sure if its impassible.
