What is your idea fixed blade innawoods?
I am a knife maker and I'm curious about what some people would be looking to hold for hours at a time.
Weight, shape (bowie, fighter, tanto), accents (paracord, serrated edge, etc), handle (wood, paracord, leather)

Liar detected.
>>646005
Never said I've made tanto, I've done paracord handles though. I prefer wooden handles though

Can you actually make a knife like a boob?
>>646004
Don't trust users, they don't know shit.
Just make whatever knives you want to make.
>>646007
I have come close.
Post a photo of a knife you have made OP.
>>646010
well I don't go innawoods as much as i want to so that's why I'm here.
>>646012
Current knife made out of a leaf spring to basically make a hatchet disguised as a knife (its like 3/8Th thick). Haven't put the grind on it yet but you can imagine. Notice the boob-level comfort grip.
People that actually go out only carry one of these. Neckbeards knife collectors are your target group and fortunately you are in the right place.
>>646017
Is the hole for a fire steel?
>>646017
That is totally useless as a hatchet. Fuck off you faggot
>>646017
Instead of boobs could you make a cairn handle?
>>646027
its the bolt hole that holds the leaf spring set. I'm thinking about welding it full but I'm curious to see if I can think of something fancy before I get to that process.
>>646033
Oh you fancy?
>>646004
Most knives for bushcrafters follow under the Ray Mears bushcraft style knife.
Scandi grind.
I've been looking for a good bowie for a while though.
light. easy to use. scandi grind. oval/barrel-shaped handle. wood preferred
a blade thickness of about 2,0mm. blade length of 106mm
>>646107
>he doesn't like scandi grind

You don't need a shop to be a knife maker you just need to make knives.
>>646004
Try equipped.org
Doug Ritter is a survival expert, very highly regarded. His site has a section on buying the right knife. He's worked with Ethan Becker, Benchmade, and others.
Other than that, just make what you like and build your craftsmanship.
Carbon steel
Straight edge
Full tang
Serrations on spine are optional but I have a saw on my multi tool.
>>646316
Don't be a pedantic fuck, you know what I mean. A workspace, whatever you want to call it.
>>646316
I have a shop but I'm not posting it for obvious reasons, but you probably haven't been on the website.

Sheepsfoot neck knives.
Enuff said.
>>646634
>Sheepsfoot neck knive
what the hell are these even used for?
Looks like a box cutter
>>646632
So post the website.
>>646636
Ummm everything you could use your taticool knives for? And actually is better at skinning animal hide then your regular pointy knives. Plus since the spine is flat too. Perfect for scraping fat. Cuts rope just fine and is an excellent box opener.
Only thing I say its not really good for is cutting up fish. But besides a fillet knife what is?
>>646645
Too add. The only other processing knife besides larger ones like machetes. And my beloved sheeps foot. Is an ulu. Highly under rated knives.
>>646645
I dont believe it skins better. I think the point would cut through, no?
>>646645
>And actually is better at skinning animal hide then your regular pointy knives.
Are you kidding? A blade with lots of belly is the only consistent feature in skinning knives. A completely flat profile would be horrible for skinning.
>>646653
I dont see where this would be better than a more rounded edge
>>646636
>what the hell are these even used for?
They were traditionally used to trim sheep hooves and such, hence the name.
>>646658
i thought it was looks
>>646634
Spring assist, tactical, tanto point, serrated sheepsfoot, you mean!
Nuff said!
>>646659
Heh both those posts are mine.
>>646675
Oh I thought you meant website. I make my knives after hours at my shop, I'll make a timestamp when I'm there. At home I work on the blade with an angle grinder, files, sandpaper, and other under-400-dollar-tools. Do you really want me to send pictures of that?
Also since when should I give a shit if an anon thinks I'm full of shit?
>>646675
Me saying "i have a shop" refered to my website, not my workspace.
>>646688
>Do you really want me to send pictures of that?
Sure, why not? /diy/ does it and it's cool to see what other anons' spaces are like and even get ideas from it.
>>646004
Tfw i own that knife, grandpa have it to me teehee
>>647489
The knife in op is actually a cheap knockoff of the old western bowie that you have, that is a pretty cool old knife
Meme knife or not, I still like my Mora Viking.
Except the sheath is complete shit.
Anyone have pic related? I may purchase
>>646673
> Hmm.
> Double standard or hypocrite? You decide.
>>646004
A puuko.
/thread.

It's a classic design for a sailor's knife. You could do your rigging on an unstable deck without stabbing yourself. It's also a strong design if you need to baton it, which is something that sailors sometimes did to get through heavy hemp rope.
>>647552
Yeah, the handle always looks clumpy and the sheath looks shit. I just seal up leather and use rubber tape to make a watertight area at the base of the blade.
>>646636
Sheepsfoot blade has been around a long time because it's useful when you don't want a stabby point.
>>646645
>is better at skinning animal hide then your regular pointy knives
Nope, belly is better
>>646004
These are three of mine and one of my wife's. The Ahti is the best quality, the PSK is probably the best "survival knife" of the lot, the Old Timer Woodsman is an excellent skinner, and my wife's Case is a good all-around knife. Please note they've all seen actual use innawoods and aren't display and/or sheath babbies like most of the knives you see here. I've owned that PSK since the 1980s. Bought it at the PX at Reese AFB when my Army regular uncle was in town and I was in high school.
>>647489
Same
>>647489
what is it? google and tineye give me nothing
>>648724

>>648724

>>647552
The kj ekerson or whatever they were called made the best mora and the viking was one of my favorites, too bad frost swallowed them
