Anybody do some spearfishing?
I'm suddenly interested in pole spearing. I'm taking a PADI SCUBA certification course soon and if I'm comfortable with that I might move onto unassisted diving.
Anyone have good SCUBA or spearfishing stories?

I occasionally spear fish from sure using a Hawaiian sling spear. I fish around rocks and reefs so protective gear is a must. Gloves and boots, unless you have inclosed fins.
First time I went I was successful with a few fish. It took some time to feel comfortable under the water. Once I had a few fish in the bag I started to get paranoid about sharks because of the blood from the fish, not sure if my paranoia was justified though. I scuba as well and never worry about sharks, it was just the blood that made me feel uneasy.

fuck wasting money on gear hire and the certification if you don't plan on using it
Me and some friends are thinking about getting into it. I am honestly not a great swimmer but I think I'll be good.
Don't they sell little air tanks that give you like 10 minutes under the water? I would love to use those.
