i have to sleep in my car on thursday. where is the best place to do this without getting arrested?
>>
>>1090644
Rest area?

I mean you won't get arrested either way unless the same cop kicks you out of multiple places in a nice suburb. They will just tell you to leave. For one night, you can probably just do Walmart.
>>
>>1090644
Wal-Mart, a truck stop, a ride share lot.
>>
Do campgrounds allow late night check-ins? like around 10-11pm?
>>
>>1090644
Why do you have to sleep in your car?
There's plenty of cheap motels that have showers.
Approximately where will you be? It's cold sleeping in a car, trust me.
>>
>>1090662
I'm in central florida so i'm not really worried about the cold.

I just moved in with my girlfriend and both our parents are very conservative. My lease is up and my Gf's mom is visiting until Friday afternoon. Going to the beach to stay with friends for the weekend, but I need somewhere to stay for Thursday night into Friday afternoon.

Campgrounds are preferable. I'm not broke and can get a tent, but would prefer to do it on the cheap.
>>
>>1090664
I'll help you plan the route and find somewhere to crash.

Where central Florida to what beach area?
>>
>>1090666
Anywhere in Orlando to the Vero Beach Area.

Thank you, Anon.
>>
>>1090668
You taking the pike down to Yeehaw and across or 528 to I-95? There's 3 miles difference, and I don't know how much the pike is.
>>
>>1090670
probably yeehaw
>>
>>1090671
Canoe Creek service plaza jeezy

I was just driving thru there Saturday. It's easy to claim you are on a road trip if you stay near the Turnpike, but it is FL so most places are sick and tired of hobos if you get near the beach.

Come to Broward and sleep on Pepsi's couch.
>>
>>1090671
Oh shit, how about the TA truck stop of Vero Beach? Showers, food, fuel, and they're fine with you sleeping in your car. Cops usually cruise TAs so they're pretty safe.

8909 20th St, Vero Beach, FL 32966
>>
>>1090671
Forgot to mention it's like an hour and a half drive
>>
>>1090672
>>1090674
>>1090676
thank you. all dually noted
>>
>>1090674
>>1090676
Also there's the Pilot n Love's in Ft Pierce but that might be a little bit south.

I always gotta hit the Pilot on my way back from Orlando because they have that shitty truck stop licorice that comes in like 10 flavors and you can't find anywhere else.
>>
>>1090680
Pilots aren't safe, or at least from what I remember of them. Usually dirty, that's why we called them Pee-lots because it was more sanitary to piss in the parking lots. Lots of lizards, bums, and whatnot. I could be wrong about that one though, I haven't been that far down in Florida.
>>
>>1090680
And fuck Loves
>>
>>1090682
>>1090684
They don't seem too sketchy. And once you start getting south of Orlando, there aren't many truck stops because we're at the end of the country. I think the only truck stop within 100mi of my house is the 595 Truck Stop and that's an independent place.
>>
>>1090644
Call up the local police station and ask them.
>>
>>1090644
Lol, literaly any traversable roadway or parking lot?
>>
>>1090644
couchsurfing
>>
>>1090682
When were you a trucker ?
The 90s?
Much has changed

Why is it illegal to sleep in your car in the US?

I can't wait for the update 6 months from now after OP is abducted and finally manages to escape his captors.
>>
>>1090777
It isn't. What is illegal is parking in a place overnight where overnight parking is not allowed.

Im from Vero Beach.... and live in Orlando...

best way to get ther is 520 - I95.

Cops patrol the beaches, and the only real campground thats close is sebastian.

Walmart would probably be fine.
Otherwise their is a big half built neighborhood by Oslo middle school. Just behind it actually.
I used to go there for... ya know... activities with GF's

here it is on the map.

havent been there in a while so its still a toss up.

Sorry for the multiple posts, just keep remembering things from the area.

The Big Lots parking lot is another good option. If you need to be by the beach for the breeze then round island may be ok on the river side.
here: https://www.google.com/maps/place/27%C2%B035'47.3%22N+80%C2%B023'41.1%22W/@27.561134,-80.3280321,101m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d27.596478!4d-80.394754

If all else fails, I know for a fact you can stay here:
https://www.google.com/maps/place/27%C2%B035'47.3%22N+80%C2%B023'41.1%22W/@27.6368079,-80.3971255,29m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d27.596478!4d-80.394754

Just park in the back in the circle. Nobody will bother you

Walmart parking lot > campground with groups of drunk rednecks being loud
>>
how late are campgrounds open til? i would prefer that but feel like i would be getting in too late, like 9pm
>>
>>1090841

Varies on the campground.

Google the campground, should have a time listed
>>
>>1090841
Youre a stupid fucking pussy
Cant believe you. Seriously.
One night in your fucking car, you can literally park ANYWHERE for a night you poor sheltered faggot.
KYS.
>>
>>1090857
yeesh
>>
>>1090867
Go outside once in a while
>>
>>1090644
I've slept in my car in university parking lots and walmart parking lots

felt safe and got a decent rest.
>>
>>1090644
Is it illegal?
>>
>>1090644
the hardest part is staying comfortable, and warm, and dry from condensation.
>>
>>1090880
staying comfortable meaning it's hard to get to a point where you can lay and be close to flat.
>>
I slept in my car in Maine for a week in the same hotel parking lot, I even went inside to use the restrooms in the lobby too. Id do it again
>>
>>1090878
My cousin got a DUI for sleeping in his car after a party on a residential street because he had the keys inside the car. Apparently if you put your keys on the ground under the car you're fine though
>>
>>1090878
In most places, no it is not. There are some municipal ordinances against it, but none that I'm aware of in Florida.

Mostly car/van dwellers get in trouble for leaving their vehicle in one place for too long or parking somewhere they are not supposed to.

>>1090644
I've done it a few times at small business plazas. It all depends on if its a high population area. Just be discrete.
>>
I road tripped from Utah to Alaska and back in a 99 lumina and found that it was much more comfortable to lay the driver's seat all the way back and sleep in it like a chaise lounge than it was to try and curl up in the back seat. But then I'm 6ft 210lbs so YMMV.

Definitely make sure to crack a window for both condensation and CO2 build up.
>>
>>1090775
Still am, just haven't been in Florida forever.
>>
>>1090662
>sleeping in a motel
i would rather freeze to death honestly
>>
>>1090777
It's not. You can only really get in trouble for loitering. But there's so many legal fine places to park for free it's a moot point.
>>
Do you seriously not have one single friend that will let you use his couch?
>>
>>1090984
My buddy just got done for the same exact thing. Total bullshit, he lived 45 minutes away so uber wasn't really an option and who gets a motel after Friday night at the bar? Makes no sense to me they can arrest you for driving drunk if you aren't driving and weren't planning to until you were sober.
>>
>>1090644
How the fuck does this bullshit have 50 fucking replies? Literally any strip mall parking lot, you gigantic pussy
>>
>>1091091
The only lot lizards left in the country are in indy.
Rare even there.
Makes me doubt you are a real trucker
Maybe you have been on a dedicated for ten years?
Lizards are gone man
>>
>>1090654
Gay man detected.
>>
Why would anyone arrest you for sleeping in your own car?
>>
>>1090644
any college campus, they'll think youre just a student. worse case scenario is some campus PD mall cop harasses you and tells you to go back to your dorm
>>
>>1091344
They all require parking passes.
>>
>>1091336
They wouldn't.
>>
>>1091393
You won't be arrested, but could be made to move and given a citation for loitering.

Also, if you are sleeping, put up a little note by the window that says you're sleeping. I'm a paramedic. We get calls all the time for "male patient unresponsive in a vehicle" and it's usually just someone asleep. For some reason, people see someone asleep in a car, they just call 911 without checking on thag person at all. It seriously happens all the time, I've been to probably 100 of those calls over the years. Sometimes it's someone drunk, but usually it's someone who is working night shift, and has to be back into work in a few hours, so they have found a parking lot and are trying to nap in peace.

Doesn't have to be a huge note advertising that you're asleep, but jist enough so that if someone does see you sleeping, they also see a note and know you're alive. It'll also help if you're in a Wal-Mart parking lot and an employee sees you. Just write something like "working long shift, have to be back to work soon, I am sleeping". That way the employee who finds you knows you're not a vagrant.
>>
>>1091446
Or you could just park at a rest stop where it's perfectly normal to see people sleeping in their cars and not have to worry about it.
>>
>>1091221
It's an excellent example of /out/'s ability to over think and over complicate even the most basic ideas.
>>
>>1090984
If you put the keys in the trunk, you're golden.
>>
>>1091450
I've been to 911 calls at rest stops for someone sleeping.
>>
>>1091565
I'm sure it happens, but it's not the norm.

OP will be fine just crashing for a night at a rest stop.

/out/ needs to stop wringing its collective hands over everything
>>
>>1091574
that's what happens when boomers make up a good part of the posters
bunch of bored old men doing nothing but convincing themselves why they never could have done anything fun
>>
>>1091598
I seriously hope you don't honestly believe that 75 year old men take up a "good part of the posters." How disillusioned can you be. Anyways, boomers had way more freedom to goof around and not have to worry about citations and stupid bullshit.
>>
>>1091608
But anon, you are one!
>>
Wow, this thread went from just plain stupid to pants on head retarded in three posts.

Good job, /out/
