That looks terrible inconvenient to use, but I understand getting stuck on an impractical knife. I've been trying for years to find a blade like pic related, but I can't find the blanks in a decent steel, and any knife I find close to it so that I can do the rest of the work myself it's either outrageous expensive or total crap. I'm gonna have to buy steel and make it myself eventually I think, but at the moment I don't have enough time or money to buy all the equipment that I will need to do it right.

That's a pretty standard hunting/skinning blade shape. Nothing really weird or impractical about it, unless you're not hunting I guess.
