Also, you can hike and explore the city, find interesting small pockets of nature in abandoned industrial areas or kajak on rivers.

I'm in the same boat and ours is a shitty, shitty boat to be in. You're going to have to make a 2 or 3 day /out/ trip for it to be worth your while.

Go for a hike in wissahickon park. You can take a bus there or just walk from center city. Dawn on a weekday and there is usually no one there.

I live out in King Or Prussia.

Start walking until your not in the city anymore. Or take the train or whatever
