Hey /out/ I just got a new job, and the contract says I get $1000 per year (Canadian) for health spending and out doors. I'm looking for a good set of binoculars, I'm willing to spend around $7-800. What is the best bang for my buck? Willing to go a bit more if there is a better one
I live in BC, I will use them when I'm hiking, hunting, and just going innawoods. Distances can get pretty far, but I would like magnification, my shitty bushnells are fixed magnification

I have never owned any super expensive binos...but my buddy had some Steiners, they were pretty damn nice. Hopefully someone can give you some better advice.

What do you want to do? If you are looking for the best all around compromise then a 40 to 42 lens at 10 power.
Lightweight compromise 32 mm at 7x or 8x.
Good all around buys Leupold bx-3 mohave at around $500.
Porro prisms are good budget buys.
You can go fancier if you want, returns start to diminish at around 1K.
