That's a quarter cup (dry) twice per day as sustenance calories and bulk. I also eat various grasses, rubuses and brassicas, winter purslane, lots of fish and occasional small game, and a few different mushrooms that I'm very familiar with. I also plant potatoes near some of my favorite backwoods lakes, and am starting some gorilla-grow beehives this year, so hopefully by next fall I'll have wildflower honey in my diet... But rice and instant coffee is all I carry, yes.

Why the fuck do you have 2 electric saws, 2 calculators, 3 cell phones, stapler remover (most staplers have a tab on the back that acts as a stapler remover), and ipad, and dorritos?
Take all of that out and add a small hand saw and youd be fine.
Also you need three lighters max.

For an overnight hike it's totally fine as long as you're ok with a lot of external stuff strapped to it (the pack itself is really small)

It's my only pack - so it's what I use, but I'd say a 33/44 would probably a better option if you're looking to buy

Post a picture of your rucksack
>>
>>1073725

I would do the tent on one side and bed roll on the other. Sleeping bag in between and at the bottom if possible. Back in the days before down-fill was affordable, I would secure it with two paracord ties. But toggle-ball bungees are easy and convenient for what you describe.

My back country packing sees a down-fill bag that is easy to stuff in the pack. However, with my hunting pack, I keep some toggle ball bungee straps for various things - mainly, for the nice insulated hunting coveralls I have. When the sun gets up and I'm walking a lot, I can take them off, roll them up, and easily attach them to the outside of my pack.

Also, I have a BD Speed 30 I used to use when I combined a business trip with a back country trip. There's not a lot of attachment points on that pack but I could attach my overly large tent and pad (at the time) to either side with some creative use of cord and carabiners - attached to the cinch straps.

What are some good ways to fight blisters on the feet?
>>
>>1074088

/moleskin
>>
>>1074088

Also good, comfortable socks with padded support at the heels and ball of the feet, flat seams, and you need to change your socks often if you sweat a lot of your feet/shoes get wet. So yeah, moleskin is good, but prevention is good too, so bring spare socks.

>>
>>1075094
I wonder how much all that would weigh also I prefer cotton balls dipped in melted wax (1kg wax is around £8) and has a burn time of around 10-15 minutes
>>
>>1075371
>I wonder how much all that would weigh
If I was going on a long trek and decided I needed it all? Hovers below 50 lbs without a long gun and associated ammo/mags.

To each their own, but the entire REI generation of campers/hikers are like annoying parrots. Weight matters, but when they talk about skimping on utility/essentials in the name of a few ounces I cringe.

When I was enlisted we would consistently pull training and operations that would make Beardo McHipster's air mattress laden AT excursions look like picnics at the park, with packs that weighs 3 and 4 times what most granola munching pussy hiking enthusiasts would consider "too heavy."

Not trying to beat my chest or even direct the above at you specifically, but at some point utility, function and hell even minor comfort trumps a completely pain free hiking experience.

I do appreciate the melted wax suggestion, may try that when my current bag of tinder runs out.
>>
>>1075400
Damn that's cool anon. How heavy were your backpacks? You must have strong sexy legs. You ever carry rocks for fun?
>>
>>1075404
>Carry rocks for fun
HAAAAAAAIIIILLLL NO

>Strong sexy legs
Not as strong as they used to be. Got out in 2013 and while I haven't turned into a complete soft body, definitely not as beast mode as I once was. I still think I'm sexy though.

>How heavy were your packs?
Really depended on what we were doing, what role I was filling and on the training/assessment and selection side how much Sgt. and command hated us that day. When deployed I've gone out with a simple little 30-50 lbs "assault" pack for a quick DA mission all the way up to trekking through mountainous terrain with 120-150 lbs on my person in total.

On my early deployments with Airborne I would say I averaged maybe 50-75 lbs in Afghanistan and 30-50 lbs in Iraq. With the unit(s) I moved on to and ended up deploying with the weight fluctuated a lot, but I definitely carried my heaviest rucks with them.

It smells really good.

I had this English teacher in HS, maybe upper 20s or younger 30s when I was there. She was the typical feminist liberal arts major girl who was probably a nerd when she was in HS and as a teacher she tried to act like she was friends with the students. She also sold these "essential oils" and each stupid one has some stupid """cure""" if you use them.

Anyway one day I took some Sex Wax and rubbed it all over my English book so it would smell good, and it ended up making a fucking mess and getting all over the desk and wouldn't come off and then she threw a fit because she said she was allergic to the smell and gave me a detention.

Cunt.

She also took away my 20 Questions game once. She put it in her desk and when she walked away for a second I went in there and stole it back. For the next couple months, I annoyed the shit out of her asking when I was going to get it back. Then one day towards the end of the semester, I started playing with it in the middle of class and she was furious when she saw it. The detention for Sex Wax she only wrote because she thought it was a funny detention slip, but when she learned that I took my shit out of her desk she was genuinely upset and it was hilarious.
