>Put up a barbed wire fence and no trespassing signs as soon as possible.
>Plant long-term cash crops when in season (black walnut, ginseng, etc)
>Dig a well
>Make sure your right-of-way onto the property follows local and state laws
>If there is a river/creek/pond on your property inspect it to make sure the banks are not eroding and check historical flood levels.

>What to do
Enjoy the simple sanity of being landed: Raise some easy livestock, do a big garden, and read the teachings of Jefferson. Oh and get a rifle if you don't have one.
I'd get a dog and spend at least an hour a day just walking around on the property getting to know every little detail of it and making up names for special places/things i come across.

Solid advice, take note OP
I'd set up a shooting range for fun, otherwise just enjoy the peace

look up local fruit/nut/berry trees that are good for the region,
look up your local specialist and get good advice and strains/seed not hardware store trash. think a long time where to plant them so they can grow for the the next 20 years.
fence in the area, maybe you can get a farmer to let a herd graze you plot. this will cut down the grass fast and with little work and work on any terrain.
walk the entire plot with a grid so you know all spots and are not surprised by shit later. Print out a big google maps picture, so you can note stuff/measurements.
start planing the area, look at the land, stuf like growth and drainage, ground type.
get a company to check for a good spot and drill a water well and geothermal heating in one go.
Start checking local craigslist /ebay for useful stuff.

murder family and inherit

get some apple saplings, they'll grow in any place in the US that isnt desert/semi-arid easy. that way you and you're descendants will have god tier fruit for years to come

Where? What's the climate and rainfall like?
Get your borders carefully surveyed and marked. Cook up a plan now but don't overcommit if you've never done any farming of your own. Start small and work your way bigger. Each new thing (garden, livestock, forestry, etc) is its own thing and you want to learn each one well, and one at a time.
Finally, how old are you? Homesteading is no substitute for income. You'll have property taxes, fees, etc even if you try to stay off grid. There's a reason societies dump subsistence agriculture as soon as alternatives appear. So you need a marketable skill, trade, or certification, plus the effort and time to establish yourself in your field.

Dont get beehives at first. Leave them for a good few years and generate some good crops first. Then you csn ensure the bees wont migrate out and then you can market your honey with a locally known farm provenance behind it for more dollar.
Especially if you end up doing apples or other fruit.

Get the property surveyed to ensure you know where the original property lines are. Sometimes, people like to encroach on people's land without their knowledge. Leaving someone else's fence up across your property can actually give that property to them after x amount of years. Though that depends on local/state laws. People steal land all the time like that here. I even had a problem with it. I made sure to get the property surveyed. Then I put up my own fence on the property line and removed everyone else's fence that were inside my property.
Also, get it surveyed even if someone else surveyed it "recently". You NEED to have your own records on file so that you can present them in court should something fucktarded happen. Those papers are worth their weight in gold in court.

30 is a strange size, not big enough for dairy or crop. Your only options for profit at that size is forestry and dry stock.
Also learn to fence, and build a workshop. Get a water tower and well if possible.
