Planning on going on a solo hike soon.
I've only ever gone on hikes with friends, never been on my own. The trail is in good quality and it wouldn't be uncommon to meet other hikers while on the trail. Plus, I've done the trail before with a group.
Anything I need to take into account if I'm going on my own?

like what, for self defence?
other hikers are probably the lowest threat
but if you are concerned, bear spray is the best self defence, and you should already be carrying it.

Nah, not self defence. No bears around either.
I guess I'm just worried about "what if", and there's nobody around to help.

Can you use a map+compass, and do you know how to splint and tourniquet?
If yes, then that's the best you can do barring solid experience. The lack of a lifeline is why solo hiking isnt advised. Especially since you're hiking too, not just camping. It's a difference when you're alone.

You can get a PLB in case you get into a real grave situation. I don't use one, but I guess the extra security would be nice if you're worried.
And of course always tell someone where you're headed before hand.

Map and compass, yes.
Splint and tourniquet, somewhat. I did a first aid course, but it was years ago.

Yeah, of course.

Also, not that it really matters, but the only reason I'm going solo is because it's really difficult to find someone to come along with me. Work complicates things, I tend to be free when most of my friends are working. I haven't been on a hike in a while and I'm dying to go.
Solo hiking and backpacking is a special kind of joy. Just don't be stupid and make sure to leave detailed plans and a cut off emergency time.

It's like a rite of passage.
