I agree that people buy way too much useless shit but maybe op just needed a backpack and bought one, not wrong sharing with us /out/ists.

>>1042860
Why are you concerned with op's money? Are you, perhaps, a filthy commie?

>>1042850
Personally I see that backpack as more of an edc rather than /out/ but it seems a quality one judging by internet shills. Either way if it fits your needs that's what matters,
Also I would have bought a different color but that's personal taste.

idk, Samsonite used to make it. I paid $180 for it a few years back, these days you can get a solar bag with a higher wattage panel on it for $40. That's what the second panel is from.

>I have a question about backpack straps

So my left ladder buckle doesn't seem to prevent my left strap from staying taught. So it always loosens as I walk. I originally thought it was a problem with the buckle, but I now realize that it's because the left strap has been stripped completely. When I rub my hands on it, it feels completely smooth, and it's causing the ladder buckle to not catch.

Does anyone know a fix for this? Like scuffing up the strap? Or something I can put on it?
>>
>>1043190
Can you run it back through the buckle? Ladderlocks shouldn't be loosening, even with smooth straps
>>
>>1043194
Sorry, what exactly do you mean by "run it back through the buckle?"

Are you asking if I am able to completely remove the strap by just sliding it out? If so, the answer is "no" because of how the strap is sewn.

The end of the strap is sewn onto itself and it's too bulbous to slide through. I mean, I guess I can undo the stitching and slide it through, of course.
>>
>>1043199
I meant to run the end of the strap back through wherever on the buckle you have room in order to get more friction. Normally we'd call it "doubling back".
>>
>>1043206
Good idea, thanks for the tip.

It took me 10 minutes to wriggle it through, but I got it. It hasn't 100% fixed the problem. But it's a major improvement. Significantly less slippage now.

Going to get a new bag today for backpacking/all purpose daypacking.

I already have a bag but it's old as fuck and too heavy. What's a solid choice for around 150-200? I can go higher if needed but I'd rather not.

Is Fjallraven a meme? I just bought their largest "kanken" pack to replace my 3 day assault bag I had been using. Got tired of the milsurp autism and wanted a more generic bag that still looks nice. Plus now that I'm not in school I carry a lot less.

saying "X is a meme" is a meme unto itself.

Fjallraven is a company, not a meme

It is a meme. It's a kids school bag which they can now overcharge for.

>>
>>1043651

The bag itself looks needlessly heavy, and I know nothing about the brand, and I hate MOLLE despite it being functional, so I'll give it a 4/10
>>
>>1043465

>style: 0
>ergonomics: -9
I've tried them on, the shoulder straps are sewn like 1" apart at the top of the bag. In order for it to sit where it's supposed to and not be a glorified buttpack you need to have the pencilest of pencil necks.
>>
>>1043494
>squeak squeek squelch squeek squak
>>
>>1044160
Neither. It's of decent quality at too high a price for what it is that only won't fall apart because it's made out of fabric that's 4-5x too thick for the intended application.
>>1044179
Generally extremely uncomfortable and heavy when compared to civilian backpacks in the same price category, and normally only available in colors or camo patterns associated with the undesirables of the world.

There are a scant few exceptions though.
>>
>>1044188
Heavy makes you stronger. That's what my pa told me. I had to deal with 1st gen MSS for more than 12 years.
>>
>>1044208
This is true, but why would you buy milsurp over something that's basically the same price but better in every single way?

Commercial /out/ shit has both come down in price and come up in durability while milsurp /out/ shit has gone up in price and come down in durability in the last 30 years, gone are the days of poorfags stuck with buying an ALICE pack and frame for $35 because literally nothing else under $300 would last more than 3 seasons of light use.

Now a heavily abused used ALICE pack with frame is $80 but you can get a 60L internal frame backpack at Academy/Dick's/Big 5/REI for $75 that will hold up just as well while holding more and being infinitely more comfortable. The cheapest new combat boots that are /were actually military issue are $80, you can get Merrells or Vasques new for $70.
>>
>>1044215
You're right. I got all my stuff as hand-me-downs. Though I've really never been for want.
>>
>>1042854

I have a "bushcrafter" on my youtube recommended for some reason so I decided to give it a watch and it's nothing but an ad for products. It's so fucking stupid.

I hate this consumerism bullshit that has invaded everything. Guns, outdoors, "nerd hobbies," etc. It's fucking everywhere. FUCKING CAPITALISM. MAKE IT STOP.
>>

I can live with that. I think it looks nice and unique, I have never actually seen a Fjallraven bag before and I went to a pretty hipster infested uni in a hipster infested city.

saw this at walmart yesterday and thought it was pretty neat
