That's above 80 degrees north. See the faint dashed line that goes through the "Charles" in Prince Charles Island? That's the Arctic Circle. It's a little bit north of 66 degrees, and it's a long-ass way south of Alert.

My father used to work around the Hudson Bay. It's not that far north but the places is full or bears and wolves. Like, sometimes they had to trap bear into containers with food in order to get them off the mining site. Surely you could live in the forest but it would be already risky.
Vancouver? Honestly I doubt I would survive the winter anywhere else if I had absolutely no help/equipment.
Even the inuit tribes up in the remote regions now rely on modern intervention for food, shelter, and clothing. So basically no one way up there is 100% self reliant. Also, in Canada you get extra government money for living in the territories.
