What is the "best" way of carrying one of these? I take it the larger slot is meant for passing a belt through? that's the way I've been using it and it rocks back and forth too much
So people say it's good as a neck knife, but I really don't care for that. Others said to carry it horizontal by making a belt loop with paracord, but I also read it can be a problem keeping it tight enough.
I like this person's mod with some leather straps. Vertical carry would probably be preferable; the size and shape of the sheath are pretty comfortable, I just want it to be a bit more secure.

Of course there is always the option to just redo to the whole thing in leather....
Suggestions? Ideas?
Turning that into a regular sheath is as easy as spending 20 bucks at hobby lobby on leather and a hole punch. Start down that rabbit hole.
Dont think about it too hard.

oh I have some leather (about how much does it go for there?) and basic tools, and have made some other sheathes, but I do like how nicely it fits in the sheath
I'd have to look more at other peoples' designs to see if it would be better to wet form it or not....a lot of people seem to like forming kydex for their mods but I don't have any
>>1034946
Kydex is generally cheaper than leather as long as you don't need the super-thick stuff (.10" or thicker).
I like making hybrid sheathes that have a kydex liner. Keeps the blade sharper since there's no chance of it dragging against the leather, and keeps moisture off the blade so you don't have to oil it as heavily. Also allows you to use thinner leather if you're worried about weight, and if you're willing to do a sew-through of the kydex you can still do friction retention while allowing a full-hand grip on the knife for easy/fast draws.
I'd probably go full kydex if I could ever find a way to attach it to a belt I liked.

hmmm
I could probably just make a leather backer piece with a belt loop, and use sex bolts to attach it to the existing sheath....I saw people did that with other pieces to attach a belt clip
Make your own, cunt

>Make your own cunt
what did he meant by this?

This is what i meant here.

Hobby lobby has belt width leather strips for 5 bucks a package, bigger packs at 15-20 and really big packs at 30. If i cant find a leather store i always go to hobby lobby. The packs vary a lot in terms of quality but i always get plenty of usable scraps.
I k ow you mentioned it already OP but I got on very well rigging an Esee 4 and Esee Candiru sheath with cord for a slightly canted scout carry. It's solid on my belt -the belt may or may not make a difference, I don't know- I can post a few pictures if you like?

I found putting it on the belt while I threaded the cord through it helped. That and pulling it all almost so tight it wouldn't work so when it stretched it was about right. Anyways good luck! Especially with the leather. That sounds cool if you try it.

that gives me another interesting idea; I could try wrapping, but with leather shoe laces instead
took two minutes and and a few inches of an old belt

There ya go

not op, just contributing. dont overthink it the izula will last your whole life with the warranty granted civilization doesnt collapse and even still if you take care of it, but your sheath will change as your tastes do over the years anyway. my two girls
Get a "Tek Lok"
It will attach to the two adjacent holes. Works like a charm for a belt loop. Also no need to take on/off the belt to attach or remove it.
Works great on my custom BK16 sheath
(pic related, but not mine)

I've had those break on several occasions. I'm not a fan.

>Lying on the internet.
Those are military grade plastic, and are literally bombproof.
I've literally used them for years without one single failure on them.
Why did you create a thread if you're not even looking for results.
>>1035728
BTW, you only need one
>>1035732
He mad.
>>1035732
I'm not OP.
>military grade plastic
As someone who's been in the military, that's a ridiculously low bar and in no way indicates quality. Remember, our rucksack frames are made out of injection molded ABS and are literally world-famous for cracking under routine use with ~40lb loads despite being an 80L bag supposedly designed to be thrown out of airplanes with 200lbs of person and 100lbs of other shit attached.
>I've literally used them for years without one single failure on them
And I've literally broken one clean in half within 5 minutes of buying it because it snagged on my seatbelt as I got in my car. In fact, of the 3 I've owned, 2 didn't survive for 24 hours upon receipt. And I'm skinny. Them sitting on a shelf or in a drawer collecting dust does not constitute use.
(I'm op)
made a leather belt loop, not the prettiest but it's pretty snug
>>1035651
not a bad idear

price?

que?

These >>1035728
are Malice Clips. Designed to attach molle pouches to molle webbing, are available in a bunch of different lengths, and work passably as belt loops.
Theoretically you'd be able to open them to get something off your belt but they're stiff as shit and I've always needed something to pry the locking tab open with (penny, screwdriver blade, pocket knife) so I doubt you'd be able to do that as efficiently as just pulling your belt out of a couple belt loops.
The Tek Loks start around ten bux for the small size (appropriate for most knives) on bladehq. They're decent. I'm the one that's had several break, although they were on pistol holsters. Should be enough for knives, but again, I'm not a fan.

there are two non autistic ways:
1. if your belt fits through the slot
tie paracord through the holes and loop yout belt through the slot and the paracord wrap and carry your knife at 4 oclock inside your belt.
2. if your belt doesnt fit through the slot
get a large teklok
pic related.
easy one handed Access.
never wear a neck knife, those are memes. try putting it back in the sheath one handed.
>>1035844
My CRKT came with the thing to screw on the sheath, and I prefer how it sits horizontally. That way if you bend over or sit down, the handle doesn't dig into you.
>>1034892
Just get a tek lok. Easy to take them off and on.
>>1035696
I call bullshit. if you broke it, it means it had to do with your dumbass abd not the product.
>>1034892
Put it on the inside of your belt, jesus
>>1034892
>fell for the izula meme
just get a folding knife like everyone else
noone needs a small fixed blade.
hurr durr neckknife hurr durr bushcraft
>>1039796
I was really skeptical when I bought my first fixed blade for an EDC knoife, and I honestly prefer it to a folder. It's lighter, easier to use, and less noticable with out it sits on my belt.
>>1039796
>implying it's real and not a $5 copy
>implying it won't function as a knife
>implying people don't already have folders
