Not him but Deliverance is depressing and discouraging as fuck. It's intense, and heavy, and it's nothing even close to a happy ending. Shit's actually rather devastating.
Also, to anyone who hasn't actually seen Deliverance but is familiar with one or two scenes or aspects of the movie, you really need to see it. It's like Jaws - the most well known aspects of the movie are not what make it good.
>>1032185

Yep. I cannot have been the only one watching that who went "Wait, he's going to ALASKA with nothing but a .22 rifle, and with no experience or hunting, shooting, fishing or wild game preperation? He gonna die."
>>1032997
I wish this movie was better but I agree. I have creepy New English blair witch woods all around me and I lovehate it so much.
>>1032842
I have to admit his philosophy was compelling and I mostly liked his attitude (at least how it was portrayed in the film), but his total lack of knowledge, training or preperation was shocking, and ultimately massively disrespectful of the environment he was going to. And nature will kill your ass dead without noticing.

New World is so underrated. Great cinematography and the movie just looks good. Would double dip (would be tripple dip really since I got it on DVD somewhere as well) for a UHD HDR version.
>>1032611
Another movie I wish would get a 4k transfer. One of the last movies Hopkins gives a shit enough to act in. Even Alec Baldwin turns in a decent performance in this movie.
>>1034215

>>1034900
Awful, my ex and I watched it. She liked it; she had poor taste.
If you want some decent /out/ movies that the ladies will also love: Dances with Wolves, and The Last of the Dogmen. They go wild for those movies, and I don't know why.

Embrace of the Serpent
I watched it last night and was blown away. It's got subtitles and is in black and white, but I'm sure no-one here's a pleb that wouldn't see it because of that, right? It's about a shaman and his time with two ethnographers 40 years apart. Gorgeous landscapes and nature, set entirely in the Amazon and centred on one of its tributaries.
It's draws very very heavily from Fitzcarraldo, but also reminded me a lot of Apocalypse Now. It's on Amazon Prime video, at least in the UK, but I'm sure it's torrentable.

Not that anon, but I've walked through several of those mountains myself. The montage is stitched together from about three different ranges, and yes, the fires are far, far too big for how far they supposedly are.
>>1032992
