Where can i buy or make one of these grates for campfire grilling? My Google searches only return large grill replacement grates and memey collapsable camping grills.

that's just gopher wire or chicken wire on 2 pieced of wood. probably galvanized, so retard's probably gonna die.

Its from a Scrambled O video so he probably deserves it

What i really want is just a small piece of metal grate/mesh that i can stuff in between shit in my pack. 9x9in probably all i need for cooking a single hunk of meat or placing a pot on.

Thinking about just ordering a custom sized piece of stainless steel mesh from a random manufacturer. But id prefer if there was an easy way to DIY with cheap shit i found around the hardware store.

Find an old BBQ grill n cut or weld to size. It's not rocket science

Looks like "hardware cloth" which is zinc coated. You could use any welded wire fencing/rabbit cage material if you don't mind the zinc coating.

Zinc's melting temp is 419.5 °C and its boiling temp is 907 °C. A normal wood fire gets to no more than 600 °C. It shouldn't vaporize the zinc, but you shouldn't breath the smoke anyway. I'd put the wire into a bed of hot coals for a long while before cleaning and using it.

You may also find stainless steel welded wire fencing/cage material at your hardware. It would be better to use and won't rust.

Those are even worse than zinc-coated wire. Those are chrome-coated and it goes to toxic hell when heated.

Buy a disposable charcoal grill for like 5 bucks and keep the cheap grate. Maybe just put duct tape along the edge because its sharp. It's cheap, light, bendy and it works
