The reason you carry is to give yourself an advantage in a life or death fight. Even if you could magically make all guns disappear and somehow prevent people from making them, that doesn't make you safer. If you're smaller, a less experienced fighter, or just plain outnumbered by people attacking you, a weapon is really the only thing that gives you a chance. And in the real world, the bad guys get guns anyway no matter how illegal they are.
