What area are you in? If in the PNW and it is orange inside it could be an indian paint conk. Though I've never seen one with the outside so glossy.

No....but it will maybe possibly make you sneeze - which can be dangerous while driving.
Its also illegal in 7 states. (The sneezing whilst operating a motor vehicle, not the fungus.)
