The GS500 is objectively the best beginner bike.

Finally got my unrestricted license in Australia. I havent actually owned a bike to date (had my license 3 years) and have got my riding experience mostly from riding friends bikes rarely. Im at that age where the gf is talking about marriage and kids in the next couple of years so I think now is the only chance ill get to buy a new one for a long time. Budgrt is about $11k AUD ($8.5k US). Im mostly into nakeds and cruisers and sports as supersports are a nightmare to insure.. What would you suggest for a bike which will last me a long time mechanically as well as in terms of enjoying and not growing out of?

Ive ridden a cbr250r, a gsr750 and a honda rebel 500. Also attempted my dads 95 superglide but it was way too big and impractical. The gsr750 was just about perfect but without anything to compare it to it could be a false sense of "good". I want a bike I can have for a long time and not be bored while still being reliable.
