Just wanted your advice, /o/. I'm looking to buy my first Porsche but only have a budget of $25,000. With this limitation, I've set my sights on the classic 1978-1983 911SC. I plan on it being my daily car but is it even practical? Do the maintenance/repair costs outweigh the appeal?
Im fairly young and this'll actually be my first car after college. I've just started getting into working on cars and I've heard the 911SC is a lot of maintenance but I'm a ship engineer so working on machines isn't foreign to me.
Is this car worth it? Are there better Porsches in this budget?
If you love classic Porsches then this is probably the best you'll get for the money. They need a lot of care though, old 911s are infamous for breaking if you take your eye off the oil pressure gauge for 10 seconds.
As for other Porsches, you're looking at relatively new stuff like 987s and 996s, or maybe the electrical nightmare that is the 928 S4.
As cool as the 911SC is, I don't think you want it as a daily.
Play it safe and get a 987. You'll get a nice one in that price range that some normie drove to get groceries.
996 if you want a daily. Everything before that is collector tier.
