I think a big part of it has to do with being around and "conscious" during 9/11, and seeing how the world changed since. 6 years old is kind of the cutoff for remembering how things were before then. Also has to do with witnessing the financial collapse and being able to understand how that affects you. Being born in 1990, I remember 9/11 more than any other day from back then, and I remember coming to terms with the financial collapse right as I was getting into college and planning out my future, then having that all thrown in doubt.
