No. When the throttle closed there is very minimal airflow.
Which is what creates the vacuum that causes engine braking.

It will be adequate for daily transport.
In hilly regions or sporty driving you will feel like it is really underpowered. Even in a Fabia it feels "OK"

if it were due to the hydraulic valve lifters the ticking noise would be there constantly.
what's /o/'s sincere opinion on additives for lifters? from what i've heard that stuff's just snake oil.
