Where do you guys put your smartphone in the car when navigating or where would you put it ? I am gonna to use one soon because i will be driving in places i don't know jackshit about and i don't want to get lost all day. I thought about putting my Galaxy S6 in front of a vent but i don't know if that will not cause some damage to the phone.

Window mounts are illegal in like 35 states and the rest have restrictions on where they can be placed.
Depending on your dash design, CD mounts are great. Never falls off, legal everywhere, but might be unusable depending on the car.

I got a techmatte CD slot mount
the magnet is strong enough to hold my phone by its battery (galaxy s8)
and the little teeth fit nicely in my CD slot that I don't use anyway
the little knob sticks out the bottom can get in the way depending on the car though

I plug it in to charge it then I throw it in the open console area. Android Auto isn't actually that bad. Although sometimes its still easier to just choose what song I want to hear on the phone instead of trying to let Google understand my voice.
