What's the best 4WD/AWD road trip vehicle for a couple planning to sleep in the back of the vehicle some nights?
Girlfriend and I are planning a road trip, my first one and her third. There's no way my car would make it and there's also no way we'd fit in the back (it's one of those tiny 90s 'suvs' styled after a dune buggy). I'm looking for a kickass adventuremobile. Budget is under 10k but I'm definitely buying used.

Late 90s GMC Yukon, (not the XL version)
A minivan.
AWD available, plenty enough power, tons of room, either take the seats out entirely or fold them into the floor (chrysler stow-n-go) and put a full size mattress in their place.
Subaru Legacy Wagon

Vermont. Only one for the entire state. I use CarGurus though. What's everyone's opinion of a Tacoma with a camper shell?
I'm sort of looking for an excuse to get a Tacoma because they're so versatile.

Tacos are pretty overpriced on the secondary market. Be mindful of that.

I bet the other two guys from her first two trips were bigger than you... in every way.

Good luck getting a 4WD one for $10k though. Especially not with the god-tier 7.3.

You could probably put together a Ranger + Flippac for $10k
