Because capitalism and the fact they manage to get really good at scale economics. Nothing wrong with it but it is not really that great of a place to shop when the savings from place to place is maybe like 20 dollars. Its just more convenient. More so for families too. They also have Sam's club which is basically a warehouse they allow people to shop in for stuff in bulk.

Also here an image for all the faggots crying about gas prices. You have to be a newfag driver if the recent spike has gotten you concerned.

Except tax isn't on total sold, Tax is on a gallon of fuel no matter the price.

Which is only like 24 cents for federal fuel tax and what ever each state has.

So doesn't matter if its 1 dollar or 9 dollars, 24 cents only goes to federal.

>you'd have to be really poor in the US to drive something like a fuel sipping econobox.
Then it's a good thing the other aspects of the US economy are in a fucking shambles with boomers that should have retired hoarding all the good positions and leaving entry level table scraps for literally everyone under 40 while cost of living is higher than ever.

gas taxes vs profit.jpg

We had a natural disaster, and 1/3rd of our nation's refining capacity has shut down. That's why prices are up.

For all of your Eurofaggots saying "DERP OURZ COSTS MOAR!", that's your own goddamned fault.

Gasoline is a worldwide commodity. As such, at almost every locale on the face of the planet, a gallon of gasoline costs roughly the same price, whether you're in San Francisco, Atlanta, London, Cairo, Bombay, or Peking. The only difference in price you see at the pump is due almost entirely to local taxes.

If you don't want your gasoline to cost so fucking much, elect politicians that will cut your taxes. If you aren't willing to do that,
SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOU'RE COMPLAINING ABOUT YOUR OWN FUCKING STUPIDITY.
>>
>>17849007

Yeah but the trade off is you have to live in Calgary.

>at almost every locale on the face of the planet, a gallon of gasoline costs roughly the same price

As much as I wish I can agree with you on that, and you are mostly right. But a large contributing factor to inconsistent prices is the cost of shipping all that gasoline. It costs lots of money to transport, even by pipeline. The money from that pipeline has to come from somewhere, and a large portion of that comes from the price of the very gas that's pumping through it.

Same goes with nearly everything that needs to be distributed. The further away you are from manufacture, the more you're going to pay for it.
