it's a 19 hour drive away and i just can't swing that kinda trip rn for a number of reasons.

i've even seen the carfax and the fucker who owned it wasn't playing. it's had regular service and it's clean as fuck,

i feel like what im looking for shouldn't be all that hard to find. just an older subaru outback or forester in decent shape in manual. looking on craigslist out west tho it seems like they're abundant out there. im gonna visit a friend there early next year and maybe i'll car shop while there and drive home with something.

I found a bit of shitbox 986 with the IMS/Rear main seal/Water pump replaced (so basically no major maintenance left to do) for 5400. Mileage aside it was a fucking steal.

This thread is old as fuck and OP probably won't even see this but you can pay to send a mechanic out an do a thorough inspection. WeGoLook is the only one I know of. Not sure of the pricing but it is a viable option if you can't make the trip.
