What part would it tear up, the gaskets? Accelerator pump diaphragm? There's really not much to be "torn up." You would need larger jets to run the fuel properly though.

In small engine applications, yes.

And they're not made to withstand repeated ethanol exposure, which is why you're best to mix 91/94 for your 2 strokes.
