hey, I'm 19 and I just got my permit finally, looking for a first car that has good handling, fun to drive and fwd since most rwd cars are expensive. I was considering the frs but the cost of insurance, premium gas and potentially being stuck with a car I dont want when I want some more power put me off.
would a hatchback civic or celica be a good choice.

1000 or lower -2000 from an owner
or 50-200 a month financing from a dealer

Unless your credit is immaculate, the financing option is a very tall order, I'd go for ether an EG or EK hatchback that isn't molested. They're usually around $3-5000 due to JDM inflation, but its a Honda and they're bulletproof and with an extremely wide aftermarket. The Celica around the model years you're looking at is a bit of a disappointment in terms of the car's history.

really I only said finance cause I thought it would be a good way to get past the rice tax and the celica cause I like Toyota, but Ill problaby go with the civic

also would a 2004 or older Volkswagen gti be good, just to widen the range
