Would a rx8 with a wiring issue be a bad idea as a project? The guy was starting to part it out but has only sold the front bumper and a few interior pieces so far. He says it'll blow a fuse as soon as you turn the key on but sometimes it starts but will blow it again as soon as you turn or hit a bump. Car has 100k kilometers on it, just looking for a project to work on, what would be a reasonable price (leaf) for it, or should I even bother?
You can literally get shells for $1000-1500 now.
If it's around there and clean sure.
They're getting popular for LS swaps.
I wouldn't buy one if I intended to leave it rotary

A wiring issue like that sounds pretty trivial and inexpensive for a qualified mechanic to address. I'm not a mechanic though, you should ask one in your community and get a ballpark price.

never buy a used rotary unless its just been rebuilt because the previous owner is always an idiot.
He just said he'd sell it whole for $1000, should I jump on this? Plan on keeping the dorito if I can trace back the wiring issue. I can't really even lose much money can I if it's fucked?

this, leave money for a rebuild
better yet, buy blown one and swap 13b rew in it
also, 1st get rx8s will need spark plugs(if renesis), battery and starter replaced

probably wont lose any money, if it's a minor fix.
dunno about prices on the wrong side of the ocean, but here a good condition rx8 is 6-7k euros

Assuming that's all it is. However, if he was okay with driving around his RX-8 without taking care of a habitual problem like that, he probably didn't take care of the engine either.
