did old american cars have good interiors?
this is an old wagoneer. it looks pretty good.
but i have seen many with shit interiors, like an amx. so whats the deal?

It was hard to find a luxury car in the 70s that didn't have fake wood dashes. The car itself was a fine barge.

Depends on the original price obviously, just like today. The Wagoneer in its day was a luxury SUV basically. The AMX was a cheap pony car underdog competing with the Camaro and Mustang, and those weren't any better quality frankly, only slightly less questionably styled.
As a rule of thumb the only American cars that aren't a complete piss pot to be in are luxury models, and even those were lackluster in some years.

Our pickup trucks have always been made pretty well too. But you are right. America has never been particularly good at making economy cars.
