For a dd the sols are great. You have the simple low lobes and then a different car when you get over 5,000rpm.
Corners like a wooden pallet, mainly because of the flex in the chassis, instead of the suspension keeping the tyre on the ground the flex also helps... It aint guna have a LSD but who cares...
Also how many do you see these days? Buy one. You'll love it.
Also hard top convertible. Harder to break into.
Any engine is a good one. A working one is better.

I should add that my budget is around 3k. I was going for the prelude even though it's a bit out of my budget was because I've had a soft spot for it since I was a young lad. So I guess I'm willing to forgo some fun for cool/nostalgia factor as long as it's more interesting than my current car.

I know it's not a good reason to turn down cars, but I've had a bad history with Subarus so I'd rather not get one, and the Miata is a little out of my budget.

I truly appreciate the comment, I put some work into getting it running the way it is, and do everything I can to keep it clean.

Replaced tons of shit on the car and the only thing I still need done is the sideskirts, but my money is all apparently now going towards a coilover kit for a 240sx because my struts just fell out of the car. I wasn't even driving it. They just fell out. If I was driving it, coulda wrapped that bitch around a tree :/

>>17750697

Mine was 3.5k, you can haggle it and whatnot the best you can, try to point out imperfections and use that as reason to lower the price. There's a flaw you can leverage you can prob get it cheaper, or they won't budge. It's all a game of negotiation but if they don't budge and it's a clean motherfucking 5th gen manual, do what you can to get the car because an intake an exhaust just makes the car so much fun to drive.

and not to quad post but for negotiations I have two experiences here

1. The Honda Prelude: the guy had a firm price for it due to a number of people behind me wanting to look at the car. He knew it would sell at his asking price and was not willing to go any lower. No major flaws were found in the car to complain about, and it went like 'would you be willing to go any lower?' 'No.'

2. The dead 1990 240sx:
>opened hood
>'how long has this sat here'
>'this AC compressor looks fucked'
>'these are expensive fixes...'
>'there's major damage to the dash and door panels'
>the engine is blown (and they had the thing partly apart like fucking retards trying to fix something they'll never be capable of doing
>'yeah we just decided to get a different car, because this one ended up seeming like too much work to fix up'
>'why is the front of the car warped?'
>sun paint fade

'I'll give you XXX amount for it [straight face]'

got a lower price than asked. It's all about feeling it out.

yes it looks misaligned the exhaust is just hanging. yes I have 2 expansion joints. these cars are VERY rough on exhaust components when they're turbo charged. I couldn't keep my downpipe together on the last build even with an experienced weldor fitting it up. the mismatched piece is a 3" to 2.5" reducer and the big end is slipfit and welded to save on v-bands.

Now that the Corolla isn't insured I should be expecting a letter from the DMV later this year threatening me with massive fees or to turn in my license plate. I'm most likely selling the car off after it runs again so I'm not worried about that. I already ran a quote on the potential new car (2005 Lexus ES330) and the price is about the same as with the Corolla.

But the prelude and RSX make more HP (at around 200 hp) and Torque than the highest trim Celica which the highest is 180hp

And the celica is the most fuel efficient with the highest MPG

Id say the celica is good if you want a peppy sporty car with good mpg's

But if you want something quicker probably the prelude or RSX

>As a guy thats owned boring auto shitboxes ie: 1992 pontiac tempest /2001 sentra /mk4 jetta /2000 cavalier sedan

What's it like owning something that's
A) a manual & B) fun to drive??

I gotta say it's weird that as a guy that's into cars and car culture and racing, I've never owned a manual fun peppy sporty car before, yet 16/18yr old kids have owned cooler or faster or better cars than me and I'm 25..

not only that but moving around so much it's hard to establish a social circle and one of the few "social" hobbies I have is cars yet I never feel like I can go to car meets since I don't "really" have a car, and i feel very out of place, I always thought it was such a crock of shit how some car guys will say "it doesn't matter what you drive" never rolled up to a car meet in a boring automatic 4 door cavalier sedan.

I'm planning on hopefully selling my cavalier and using that to get a manual Prelude/Celica/RSX/
or Integra/Ef,Eg, or Ek civic to use
While I try to get a tattooing apprenticeship in Calgary
>>
>>17761707
Any Honda with a manual is a good way to get into the door of fun to drive cars honestly. Just pick what looks the best to you out of them. A 90's Honda will have the best parts availability, though. The 80's ones are getting harder to keep going lately.
>>
>>17749338
Have a '01 DC4 GSI myself, same silver as the pic. My first car. Only mod is a Skunk2 Megapower exhaust on it from the previous owner, and that's all. Makes decent sound, but it's not necessary to enjoy the car by any means.
Even on the non-vtec engine, it's still a very fun daily that handles and feels quite nice. Being FWD, it can get a bit awkward to turn it you accelerate hard, but overall I'd recommend it.
Unfortunately mine had a radiator issue that I didn't get fixed in time, and ended up with a blown head gasket, cracked cylinder head and some other issues in the engine, which cost me some $2200 to get Honda to repair (got mate's-rates though, so that was alright I guess). So as long as you aren't dumb and look after it, it'll look after you in return.

If you can get one for the right price with decently low mileage on it (got mine at 150,000km), for sure I'd recommend it.

I had a 2002 jetta which was the 1at car I "bought"

Up to then I had hand me down cars like the tempest and sentra, I was originally SUPPOSED to buy a manual integra only to find out that the dealer sold it already so I had already been looking around for months and winter was on it's way and I needed a car soon and couldn't keep getting my mom to drive me into the city to look for cars so I settled on my PoS jetta which ended up being a lemon

And I ended up having that for like 3/4 yrs until someone T-boned me and that's when I got my crappy cavalier since I was a delivery driver and needed a car very soon and didn't have time or money to look around much

>Pic related my PoS tank of a jetta after the accident

>>17761891
Yeah my Jetta was given to me by my mom when I was 25. She got it for like $700. Once her Chevy Venture (piece of shit) blew its head gasket I gave that car back to her and got into my first Honda. Then we got rid of the Jetta and got the Corolla.

Did yours have a 2.0 too? I know it's at least a higher trim since you had actual wheels.
>>
>>17761888
God damn id be happy just to have a DD like that..

Id just throw on some Diamonds or BBS/Equip reps or something else for the wheels, and an eBay turbo since it's a slow sedan anyway, and run a conservative boost and have fun go carting around town

>captcha: ROAD MAXIMUM

>>17761911

Yeah he's cleaned it up real nice. That engine is on its last legs, though. Makes awful noises when starting up but sounds fine when running. The acceleration is way lower than it should be, plus the auto slows it down even more. It might get a swap in the future but it's a good beater while he restores his coupe.

Oh and he's about to pick up another running 5th gen coupe for like $600. He already owns three Civics so this will be number four.

>restoring EG coupe
>EG sedan beater daily
>EM1 with blown trans and tired as fuck B16A2
>soon to have another EG coupe

GEE BILL

>>17761947
I kinda liked the 2.0 but the electronics in the car were a fucking nightmare. The alarm just did what it wanted to and the locks wouldn't work half the time. Also my interior was peeling like crazy. Had to scrub off all that rubbery shit VW liked to use all over it.
>>
>>17761962
Keked hard as fuck at "GEE BILL"

And my Jetta had THE SAME problems, fuck I remember the last few weeks I had it, it ended up thinking someone was trying to break in, and would lock itself from starting, and I couldn't figure out why and essentially couldn't use my car for at least a week or 2, and looked on a bunch of forums and tried charging the battery all day then starting it while it was charging to try and trick it back into thinking it was fine, and it eventually worked thank fuck, otherwise i was gonna have to go get my fob changed which costs alot

but ya before that the fuckin alarm would go off whenever the fuck it wanted to and sometimes I'd hear it inside my house faintly, and wondered who's car that was then found out it was mine, then I wondered why my battery was always so damn low

As a car guy my real cars are fucking depressing man..
Which is why I find it funny ppl complain about X, Y, or Z being to slow compared to bla bla bla, yet don't realize how cool or fast of a car they have, compared to the fucking legit shitboxes I've had I'd give anything to have a "car enthusiasts" car

Anytime I've been in a car guys car, whether it was a foxbody/Eg/Frs/NewEdge/4th gen eclipse/etc
Anytime they drive it hard or fast I've always felt like I was on a rollercoaster and felt excited and had this huge rush and excitement and to them it wasn't a big deal but to me it was like I was in a rocket, since every car I've had is auto and slow and boring

So I think I'm gonna really appreciate having something fun and peppy for once, that most ppl probably wouldn't really care about or think is very fast at all cause if the shit heaps I've had my whole life
>>
>>17762073
Yeah I was in the same position when I had my Jetta and then my auto Civic. I saw my first hatchback in a Wal-Mart parking lot so I knew what I wanted next. It only has maybe 125-130 horsepower but in a ~2100lb car with a five speed manual it's very fun. I've driven my friend's 350Z with a manual a few times and I'd still take my car over it.

Im curious why you don't try using an eBay turbo on a low boost, every person that's reviewed them said they last surprising quite long and they're fairly cheap

Always wanted to try it on a cheapish sporty car like a Honda

Maybe in the future. I mainly drive the car under 60mph around town and I drive it every single day almost so finding time to do that is pretty hard. Also I never really have the money to do it. My friend picked up a sleeved D series block that he will turbo in the future though. Can get a taste of it when he eventually builds that up.

>>17762562
I don't even think my car can do 60 that quick but I never tried. I should give it a shot sometime since my Hondash app can track it automatically. probably gets around there. my faster times are in the lower 7s though I'm still not sure how much weight reduction the original owner did cause i can tell there's a bit. For reference like 7.2s is my fastest 0-60 and I have difficulty not having people on my ass. I've nearly been rear ended going 75 at a 55 once getting out of my college. If I keep the rpms in the 1800~4300 range I'm only gonna be doing like 7.8-7.5s. The aftermarket cam, very noticeably, makes all the power at higher rpms.
>>
>>17762655
Luckily people drive much slower around my area. The power my car makes is more than enough to keep up with and pass traffic if I need to. Though I did have a little trouble on my Houston trip. They drive much faster in comparison.

So anywho /HG/ I decided to start a fresh play-through of Gran Autismo 6 and just do a Honda play-through all the way through, probably with a 5th or 4th gen prelude

And I gotta say, am I the ONLY one who thinks Gt6's menu music is the most comfiest jazzy ass music in any racing game ever made?? I haven't played Gt 1-5 in a while but I gotta say, Gt6's loungey, jazzy, comfy menu music is a great way to unwind after a long day at work, espesially when you're E-tuning your pixelated Honda and racing, fucking comfy man..

IF it ever comes out..
Gran Autismo has a BAD reputation for taking WAAY too long to make their games, by the time they're out the console is on it's last legs, yet forza makes fairly good racing games every few yrs like a normal company and it has MUCH better tuning and customization options and graphics compared to Gt5 and Gt6, I loved Gt6 but holy shit, alot of the time the graphics on it look like an upscaled HD version of Ps2 era graphics, not to mention the customization and tuning isn't the greatest, so If all these things aren't THAT great why does it take Gran Autismo literally takes 3/4s of a decade to almost a decade to make each game??

Since Gt6 came out Forza has come out with at least 3 games and each one was very good and looked very good
So why is This??
It may sound like I'm just complaining, but I REALLY like Gran Turismo games and the love they put into having lots of cars and long little stories telling about each car, and the comfy music and stuff, they just need to stop taking 5-10yrs making each game

Just be super liberal with the silicone lube on the rubber bits and go crazy with the lithium grease on the metal. That's what I did and it fixed it. It was so bad it just got stuck while rolling it up or down to the point where it felt like I was gonna snap the crank just attempting to move it.

Are you in your car?
And I loved the uncharted games they were fucking great

Also wish I had a Redbox near me, I was talking about this with a girl I'm Fwb with and said how I kinda miss having places like Blockbuster and Rogers movie rentals

Cause in an age where everyone watches Netflix all the time and binge watches everything the day it comes out, it's kinda nice being limited to renting out a couple of movies or tv shows a week, really makes you think and pick and enjoy it more, and makes you more willing to try stuff out instead of just flipping through past it on Netflix just cause of the cover image, and the ritual is very rewarding too, hopping in your car with your family or Gf or friends, or even just yourself after a long hard day of work and coming home Friday night to go rent a few good movies and maybe a couple of games and some munchies and order a pizza, it felt more like a reward than a right.

Right now I'm having to live with my mom and her bf until I can move out again, and they don't have internet cause they just use their unlimited data phones so for the past few weeks I've had to ONLY use whatever games and movies and shows I had already and luckily the library here rents out movies and shows and just started lending out ps4 & xb1 games too, and I just rented ARROW and Its Always Sunny this week and its not bad.

And excuse my long ass stories, I just figure it's easier to do this than 5 posts with 1 paragraph
>>
>>17767239
It's all good m8. I post just as much sometimes. kek

Yeah I was lucky and the game was at the nearest Redbox just a mile away from my apartment. I figured since I get all my enjoyment out of the game from just one single player run through, it's not worth buying it.

I used to love the old school rental places but the prices were always so high so I didn't really get to rent that often. I was always forcing myself to rush through the games to minimize the cost of the rental, too.

I actually got rid of my home internet quite a while ago. I started using an unlimited high 4G LTE tethering with T-Mobile and it's far superior to the old DSL that was my only choice for home internet. Only adds $25 a month to my phone bill and I can use as many GBs as I want with no penalty. It's pretty based.

Murica has some fucking amazing data plans, we get very cucked up here in Kanata
And I've seen Redbox kiosks in malls where you can buy cheap movies from them, but I have no idea what a real Redbox is, is it like a box store rental place like Blockbuster? Or are they those little kiosk things you see in malls every where??

And I know the feeling of rushing through a game, had to do that a few times since borrowing movies and games from the library here, the nice thing is that you can take them out again or renew them fairly easily so you don't have to worry about costing an arm and a leg each week you want to borrow, I'd suggest going to your local library and seeing what movies and games they have, you'd be surprised at how much cool shit they sometimes have

At my old library in Winnipeg they had FF15 and Mirrors Edge Catalyst and other good games to borrow for free, ended up making be go out and buy cheap used copies cause I got to try them out and thought they were good games, just too long to keep borrowing, esp FF15
>>
>>17767254
Yeah as far as I know they're all vending machines. Usually outdoors around where I'm at at least. Can reserve whatever the machine has on my phone and pick it up later. No need to browse at the machine itself. It's pretty cool.

They built a new library recently by my work but I haven't been there yet. Nothing much else I want to rent aside from this though.

I played through a bit of FF15 until my roommate moved out to live with his gf (fucking normie) and took his PS4 with him. I got my own PS4 now but they announced FF15 coming to PC so I'll just wait for that. Gonna keep the PS4 just for exclusive games.

Our data plans are pretty damn good but the home internet is way worse than it should be. AT&T got an exclusive contract with my apartment complex. Since that meant they had no competition here, they only gave us the basic bitch 700kb/s (byte not bit) DSL for like $130 a month with a 150gb monthly cap.

Just the interior alone would be awesome.

The internet in the US needs a serious overhaul. So many companies are allowed to get away with whatever they want and nobody can stop them. I'd much rather live in a small country where their internet is far higher quality. I've never had it myself but I tried satellite internet at a friend's house once and the latency in any online game could easily be in the quadruple digit ms. You had to schedule your actions and hope they happened at the right times.

So I upgraded the Shingo special with a mid range turbo and stage 1 engine tune, and some small exhaust upgrades to the cat, a sport exhaust, manifold upgrade, and a twin plate clutch, which makes this rad machine at 262HP/Torque 184

After a couple races I'm gonna upgrade the suspension to a more stiffer one, and probably get a race exhaust and maybe a weight reduction and use that for a while until the next car
>>
>>17770366
Figured it wouldn't be easy/possible

>tfw no rwd jap shitbox with an undercarriage like a gm truck you can redneck it's shut up
>>
>>17770761
Why don't you just do it to a geo tracker or something?
Figured it's be easier and just as fun
>>
Rode in my friends car today (EK) and his exhaust sounds like it's stuttering or fluttering. It's not a constant stream of noise, but instead every few seconds you hear it "miss". I don't really know how to explain it.

He says it's the cold air intake and the bigger piping for the exhaust that might be causing it, as if the car isn't outputting enough air to make a constant stream. He's never had it checked out but no problems otherwise.

My dad thinks I'm crazy for wanting a DC2 Integra as my first car. He wants me to get something newer, like '08 ish - something he says will be more reliable and have a higher resale value. All his life he's been buying cars as if he's thinking about selling it the minute he gets it. I want something that's actually fun to drive as my first car.

I'm already good with cars, I've been driving for so many years and whenever the cars in our family break we fix them together so I know my way around maintaining them. Only problem is I'm broke as fuck.

A fairly decently maintained Integra will probably last longer than any 2008 car ever will

And believe me coming from a guy that's only had boring slushbox cars, when you're young it's better to have a YOLO mindset cause you don't want to be 25 and still never owned a fun peppy sporty car yet be a car enthusiast, it's painful..

When you're living in a house with no Wi-Fi, and have few good single player ps4 games, you get bored enough to dig out your old consoles and play those games you didn't have time for before
>>
>>17771521
Sounds about right. I avoid the old games i think because of disinterest and nostalgia makes me feel sad desu. Speaking of single player ps4 games, I've been obsessed with until dawn recently. Have you played it?

Heard of it, haven't played it, my new games i got for my ps4 were FF15, Mirrors Edge, Overwatch (but no Wi-Fi right now), Titanfall 2 (again no Wi-Fi), and dark souls 3, then just recently I bought Far cry Primal and The Last of Us since they were in sale at Wal-Mart and i hadnt ever played them,

and my only racing game NFS 2015 is online only, so I've been craving a good racing game and decided to dig out my Ps3 and GT 5 & 6, as well as some old ps4 games I never played through like Yakuza 3 & 4, NFS Shift 2, replay NFS Carbon, Skate, Ratchet n Clank, and some movies and shows to watch like

Happy Tree Friends, Season's 1-3 of Samurai Jack, Wayne's World 1&2, FnF 1-3, Fight Club, GoodFellas (my favorite mob movie ever) MadMax: Road Warrior (Guzoline) Bill&Ted: Bogus Journey, and to round it off Shawshank Redemption, as well as the movies/shows and games I borrow from the library

So I figured this shit should keep me entertained for a few weeks lol
I just grab some cheap as fuck munchies from my Wal-Mart or my work and enjoy until I move

>pic related, most of the games and shows I'm gonna watch

Wew that was a good nap. Was up for like 27 hours straight.

>>17771407
I would but I don't have a PSTriple anymore. I'll most likely play GT Sport when it's out. Probably just use a controller, though. I can't improve with the wheel at all and it wears me out to use. Not too comfy.

>>17771585
Yakuza is such a good series. I still need to finish 0. Gotta meet up with my buddy and get my data off his PS4.
>>
>>17771812
>doesn't have psfo
>doesn't have pstriple

Negroid Wtf do you play on besides PC??
Please tell me you have an old 360 at least
Then you could play some old forza games with us while we play GT

And how long of a nap negroid?
>>
>>17771821
I got a PS4 but few games right now. Been going slowly through Persona 5. Pretty much just PC and PS4.

I slept from like 7pm to 2am. kek
>>
>>17771585
that's more racing games than I have.
I don't have many console racing games, only ones I have are on ps2. except for mod nation if that counts
>>
what PS3 racing games have a good selection of Honda's and is initial d on the PS3 good?

2007 auto honda fit SPORT
Just remembered the D light was flashing a few weeks ago, no check engine light though. It's happened maybe twice but the last time was maybe a month ago. Should I be worried? Was planning on changing the atf soon, it's got 140k miles on it
When it was coming on I was living in a hilly area but I've since gone back to flat land (florida) so maybe that was part of the problem?
>>
>>17772535
wast that a dct cvt or standard AT.
d light could just be going out though. did you try any scan tools on the ecu yet?
>>
>>17772535
BTW rule of thumb if standard Honda AT that milage it probably needs changed to prevent the wet clutch pack from getting fucked and only use Honda ATF a anything else will slip most likely as Honda's standard autos are more similar to what you'd find in a construction equipments transmission than another car manufacturer. regardless of type of auto trans never EVER flush it unless you plan on taking it off and cleaning it. as far as color of fluid if it's brown it's the right time to change it and if it black or metallic it's fucked. slightly milky pink is ok as long as it's not the consistency of Pepto though you need to stop the leak of coolant there's if it's milky at all.
also changing washer on the drain bolt helps remove it later as these drain bolts get really stuck. you may have to use a small Jack on the wrench to loosen the drain bolt.
>>
>>17772338
GT6
>>
>>17772535
How many miles have you had it on the trans fluid? If it's over 30k miles it's time to change it. Make sure you buy Honda CVT trans fluid
