OVGWRC

Next event takes place in sweden, you have one week to set a time, here is the leaderboard after round 1

The stage setup is similar to round 1, first it's two short stages followed by a repair station and a final long stage. Be very careful in the snow as the banks are not forgiving whatsoever.

Winner of the season is whoever has most point after both events, so just because you had a bad time at Finland doesn't mean you're out of the competition yet!

How long does it take to make the transition from controller to wheel?
I got a G29 for Assetto Corsa and set it up according to guides, use ffbclip, took out the rubber piece from the braking pedal, but I e.g. on the Nurburgring I am still about five secons behind my controller best lap, even though I feel I can control the car better in turns and such. On the other hand, it seems like I am going in each turn slower than before.
I think it has something to do with the ffb not being set up correctly, but I have no reference as to how it SHOULD feel. It definitely doesn't feel in the slightest like a real car.
>>
>>17743489
Shorten the travel of your wheel. I'm guessing the guides had you set it up to a one-and-a-half to two turns travel - you'll really want to set it up to around or under a full turn ( less than 180 degrees in either direction from the center ).
>>
>>17743489
Sounds like you need to get a feel for turn in speeds. You should be picking up plenty of speed on corner exit with a wheel.
>>
>>17743592
I have set it to 900° in the driver and ingame. Can I adjust that per car or do I have to do it in the menus?

>>17743610
Probably, but for that I need proper feedback from the wheel. Also I noticed that since I only use one screen right now I can really not assess how far to the passenger side I am going, which means turning too late in right turns because I always think I cut the corner too much. The FOV is set correctly.
>>
>>17743489
FFB will never, ever feel like it does in a real car. Set to like 20-30% or lower and work with it.
If you're slower you're doing something wrong. Try using the same approach (braking point, turn in) as you do on a pad and it should work.
>>
>>17743637
900° is a lot and should only be used for slow street cars. Keep the box ticked in the profiler that allows games to set degrees of rotation and AC will automagically set the one closest to the real car.

Bind buttons to change camera, or you know, set a wider fov because you're playing a video game and if you're still having issues with car positioning the little difference fov does literally won't matter.

>>
>>17743592
This is a stupid idea as far as AC is concerned, since that game sets your max wheel lock according to the car you're in. Just leave it at 900 degrees.
>>
>>17743172
>dirt 4
Dropped
>>
>>17743489
just find out when and why exactly you are slower and fix it. are you locking brakes? sliding out of the corners? or are you just doing everything too slowly? Or just play for a week or so and you'll probably start getting it right. Also, i don't really know what kind of fast are you, so it could help if you'd post some kind of your lap time.

ffb settings aren't as important as everyone pretends they are, just find first approved config in google and apply it in your ass corsa.

jesus christ, are your arms made of maccaroni?
>>
>>17743734
Funny enough, I am not locking brakes anymore with the pedals, but I have the feeling that I now brake earlier and overall stronger. The ffb feels strong, so maybe I don't dare to go in as aggressively as I did with controller.

Lap time with BMW Z4 GT3 standard setup on Nurburgring GT is 2:04:something, with controller.
With wheel I just managed 2:09.

Yes, I suck, but I want to know if it's me or the wheel. But I will just try with some standard config and see what happens.
>>
>>17743766

dont worry it takes a while to get going with a wheel
>>
>>17742102
I got a fucking lag at start. Lights went out but I got the false start penalty anyway.
>>
>>17743766
>me or the wheel
it's you. 2:04 is not really a good time, so just give yourself some time and learn. you have much to learn anyways, i'm willing to bet you'll hit your 2:04 on a wheel within a week of playing, and then go way further because of how much more of a precise controller wheel is.

that's just a guess, but i'm also willing to bet that playing on controller and playing on a wheel requires different approach. like, wheel allows you to actually be smooth while controller relies on some stupid tricks and super late braking or whatever. like, you probably had to compensate for lack of precision somehow, now you don't have to, but you still haven't got used to it yet.

tl;dr don't worry, just wait some time and you'll get good
>>
>>17743766
Personally I got a lot slower with the wheel until I realized I was trying to drive as if I used my controller - doing control inputs kinda like I did with my controller rather than driving with a wheel, if you understand what I mean

It comes to you, it just takes a while for it all to click

I'm on a G27, FFB is so shit setting it to anything remotely high is useless. Between the latency, the deadzone, how it tends to overheat in long sessions, and Logitech's legendary build quality I'd rather just keep it low.

>the deadzone
It's there, but it's only noticeable in really open turns

Never happend to me, and i raced a 3 houir long race with 90's DTM not too long ago.
>and Logitech's legendary build quality
How's mine still good, after 5 years of ownership?

I know you can "read" the FFB at lower levels, but saying it's because the hardware is pure shit, it's simdad logic.
>>
>>17743230
Make some good fucking pieces of work either by creating them from scratch or by doing for instance some skins that are absolutely top notch. Create a portfolio, show your command of colour of shape and show that you are CREATIVE and not just going :DDD LOOK A GULF LIVERY IM ORIGINAL

And I do mean top notch, if you don't have people actually praising you for your skills, don't bother wasting those teams time

The way livery design for a real race team works is this:
-Small on the cheap team, make their own thing, most likely the car owner, with some wraps or w/e
-Medium size teams comission a graphic designer to do it
-Large teams have an in house design department that handles it, or they contact a graphic design house

DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT spam teams with livery ideas because they will absolutely loathe you for it, additionally racing leagues are quite tightly knit and if word gets around about "that cunt with the livery e mails", you're out of work pretty fast forever.

Your only real chance is to actually talk directly to some small teams or even be approached by them for your work with 2D or 3D or w/e art - that is how I got to design a livery and thus got contacts to do it with other teams - I have not done so yet but I am currently in the progress of setting up a design service for small teams that normally would design stuff themselves, and offer higher quality design service at a low cost because it's a hobby for me

You need to understand how to do a technical print drawing in order for this all to work too, you need to be proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator (Photoshop for concept art, Illustrator for making the actual design that the wrap is gonna use)

It's not simply doing a sketch like pic related and saying :DDD I MADE A LIVERY GUISE, it is a long and tedious process even with a small team

t. RBDK
>>
>>17743881
Also I love anime skins and so does all racing teams send those to them and you'll get work for sure

Interesting comment in an older article

>Well, though I never had access to the source code, we were told by the developer that the tire model suffered important changes – namely in the estimation of grip and combined forces, making tires more stable than originally.

>I can attest to that. I designed a new physics model (actually, a new physics calibration model) for the exact same car, with the exact same figures for everything and tried it on GTR2, rFactor and Race07. [All these sims use ISIMotor2 – GTR2 an older release, rFactor a release as recent as 2007, and Race07 with a reworked version as recent as late 2007. ]

>Results were interesting:
>– GTR2, the car is quite stable but still evidencing some troubles upon brake application and steering. On the limit, spins occur less frequently than with default GTR2 cars, the car is driftable.

>– rFactor, the car is very stable, more than in GTR2, but still evidencing the same problem (very easy lock-ups and steering very difficult under medium to heavy braking). On the limit, the car is driftable, normal spins are controllable and happen when they should happen.

>– Race07: the car is very stable. On the limit, the car is driftable, normal spins are controllable and happen when they should happen. Steering and heavy braking (one major complaint pilots have about “racing simulation games”) is fully possible, the transition between combined forces to pure forces is a bit smoother than that in rFactor.

Some food for thought

Display frequency is one thing, latency is another. Everyone is able to see the difference between 30 to 60 to 144Hz display.
On the other hand, feeling the latency between the controller and the screen, on something faster than 10ms? No way you can detect by naked eye it took more than 1 frame to respond.

I'd just like to point out that outrun mode is pure horseshit, and not nearly as fun as it could be
the AI rubberbanding is subtle but once you notice it it's really irritating, for example you'll be about to win but then suddenly you get hit by a car you'd swear wasn't there before when you had like 4 more feet to go
also when you're in the lead the roads are absolutely swamped with traffic, but when the AI is in the lead it magically clears up
it's not quite Mario Kart-level bullshit where the AI travels at light speed to catch up with you if it falls behind, but it's shitty enough to make me want to cheat in order to just get it over with

Thanks for the rundown. Looks kind of meh. I guess I could finally buy Forza Horizon 3 for my open-world fix but the physics seem pretty disappointing based off the demo.

Shame about Wreckfest. Aside from the long ass development, I think they really shot themselves in the foot by unnecessarily overhauling that game. They had a really fun game at one point with 'build 6' but they threw it away. It's still enjoyable on some level but not nearly as fun as it used to be and the latest big update really rubbed me the wrong way. I don't know what those fucks are doing but they had a golden foundation at one point.

But what the fuck is Bunch? I can't find info on that.

Also, I should mention the soundtrack is car specific and it only plays in freeroam. Electro music plays when driving tuners, rock music plays when driving muscle cars, and rap music plays while driving exotics.

That's one of the problems though. Freeroam is useless in Carbon, because you can teleport everywhere and the upgrade shop is in your safehouse instead of being seperate like in Most Wanted. The only time you would be in freeroam would be in chases where ofcourse, only the composed tracks are playing
Most Wanted also had original and licensed tracks but you were able to decide wether or not to enable or disable the licensed or original tracks. In Carbon, you could only turn the music on or off.
I don't understand how this slipped through. SOMEONE must've noticed during that all the licensed music that EA paid for is only played in the Checkpoint races and the useless freeroam and therefore would be wasted. Or that the option to enable these songs outside of these places doesn't exist

So the new ETS 2 1.28 update means that multiple pivot points are actually a thing now for trucks.

So the rather very nice BDF Tandem mod got an update so that now you can have proper Swedish style configurations on your truck.

So here I am picking up one of the new trailers in Amsterdam. A load used plastics to get to the West Coast of Iceland, via the Faroe Islands.
>>

Desu, freeroam may have been pointless, but it was fun to drive around and get into impromptu chases with the cop, not to mention that drivers from rival crews would come along and challenge you to races.

After a short drive to the ferry terminal, and a 16 hour crossing, came the hard charge all the way up to the northern end of Scotland and Wick, home to the ferry for the Faroe Islands where, with a 3 hour wait for the ferry, it was the perfect time for a pit stop. Even managed to back it into the spot without too many corrections.

Why don't you just use the doubles already in the game instead of having to fiddle with and limit yourself to truck mods that supply straight trucks (with shitty preset skins for the box)?

Also what made you decide to ruin your truck with a dozen high beams?

Don't actually have a picture of the VNL with doubles yet, but here's at least one of its current configuration. Picked up a Volvo branded trailer from the Volvo factory for an earlier job and coincidentally the paint matched up almost perfectly.

The current in-game doubles are shit. They're the configuration used in Holland iirc on specific routes and not the genuine Swede configuration despite being limited to that region by the job code.

The dozen high-beams and necessary for night-time driving in Iceland. Outside of towns there are no lights so you need to create your own light to see ice patches and even the end of the road.

Admittedly they could be swapped out for a roof mounted bar only as it'd probably be more realistic.

As to the mod, I like the mod. I've used it for ages, I just need to work out how to set it to give me plain white trailers instead of the Euro-Truck scheme it has now.

>Pic related. Using the same mod, an earlier version, at the start of 2016 on an earlier version of ProMods. Somewhere in Germany iirc.

I'm aware that the Swedish configuration is the most common in Sweden, but to me it seems like an unnecessary impairment in terms of truck selection. Is the Dutch configuration used in Sweden at all? What about the Australian configuration?

I'm from Germany and the feds have recently and very silently expanded their trial programs into full blown permissions, but the states need to individually approve the routes that long combinations are allowed on, and they're very slow to do it. To my knowledge the Swedish and Australian configurations have been approved indefinitely, the Dutch configuration is on trial for another year over questions of manouverability, and longer semi trailers (14.9m we 48 ft nao) are "on trial" for another seven years. So far I haven't even seen any on the road.

hmm... I'm curious to see how this will be monetized. not looking great based off the description

>Credits (standard game currency)

I guess it's pretty on par with other f2p trash so I'm not sure why I'm surprised, but it looks like you'll be able to buy cars straight up as well? there have their own DLC pages, so I'm assuming that's the case.

Either way, I was planning on trying this game out so I'm happy to see it's still a thing.

I don't tune AWD, but to my knowledge you need 10 in launch and acceleration to be competitive with it.

And try fitting a supercharger. They tend to add power for very little PI. If you play manual w/ clutch, you can use a stock clutch to save PI.
