if europe i'd say a bmw e36 non-M
its cheap as fuck, will need repairs/maintenance but the car is so heavily documented that any idiot who can read instructions will do a good enough job. it's lightweight if its low on options or if you do some weight reduction, not too sure about the fuel economy. 39mpg on highways 23 mpg city so 30 average for its weakest 102hp engine
if murica idk a foxbody or something
just tell us what you want to do with the car and where you live

Miata or 240sx if you can find one for $3k in running condition.
thers no excuses being 6'3 for fitting in a miata because you can do a foamectomy of the seat to actually fit your tall ass in one.
btw if by sliding around you mean doing donuts in a parking lot then miata is fine esp if you have an LSD.
but actually drifting is no bueno. too short of a wheel base unless you start putting serious money and time into it. which you wont
