what's the point of a pushrod engine when dohc weighs less and makes more power?
>>
>this thread again

because OHV is substantially smaller externally and aluminum OHV V8s are basically the bees knees just deal with it /thread

yes exactly. you pay more fore quality

my "low" redline 6k rpm stock V8 sounds godly

I thought the point of pushrods was that it makes more power.

You guys are genuinely fucking retarded

They know it's bait, but they are as bored as the OP so they play along.

they don't???

LS is making peak torque at around the same time and its not even boosted

wrong.

Shit on pushrods all you want. The horsepower to dollar ratio can't be beat on an LS engine. Primitive maybe, but cheap, compact, and effective.

Im a ford guy but ls will be cheaper to get hp out of like wayyyyy cheaper

Yes. Now compare this to a 4.2 Audi V8. Even a lot of women can rebuild pushrod V8's.

You don't adjust pushrod length, pal.
Why spew shit without knowing anything about what you're talking about?

>you don't adjust pushrod length

lol, google hydraulic lifters
>>
>>17714535
With hydraulic lifters, you adjust preload on the plunger. Adjustable pushrods are only for determining the correct pushrod length. You're not supposed to drive around with them.

Protip: That's not a V8 in your pic. It's a V twin
>>
>>17714552
>Protip: That's not a V8 in your pic. It's a V twin

and? are you implying we were only talking about v8s, faggot?
>>

also

>Adjustable pushrods are only for determining the correct pushrod length.
which doesn't prove anything of what I said wrong you autist
>>
>>17714564
Yes, the conversation was about rebuilding a pushrod V8. You also seem to be confusing hydraulic with hydrostatic lifters. Hydrosolid lifters haven't ever been in a pushrod v8.

>>17714571
How does it not? Considering the above, driving with an adjustable pushrod in a v8 is a big no-no.
>>
>>17714582
>Yes, the conversation was about rebuilding a pushrod V8.
nope, read the OP, is about OHC being superior to pushrods

>You also seem to be confusing hydraulic with hydrostatic lifters
no, both hydrosolid and hydraulic lifters need to be adjusted

>How does it not?
because my point is that if you adjust the length incorrectly you will fuck your shit up, the solid pushrod you install won't magically be the correct length

>b-but what if I adjust it properly
what if I adjust my timing gears properly, faggot?
>>
>>17714661
You were replying to a post about the ease of assembly that is inherent to a pushrod v8.
No, you don't need to adjust pushrod length EVER with hydraulic lifters. you adjust plunger preload.
In a pushrod v8 (the original topic) you don't ever need to risk damage due to a pushrod being the wrong length, as you would never run an engine with an adjustable pushrod.
>>
>>17714674
*You don't need to adjust pushrod length unless you are doing a cam, rockers, etc. at the same time.
>>
>>17714684

How do you adjust the length of a piece of machined metal?

You haven't done any of this before, have you?
>>
>>17707528
Sure would love to push my rod into her.

>You were replying to a post about the ease of assembly that is inherent to a pushrod v8.
on a thread about OHC being superior to OHV, if some anon decides to cherrypick a v8, its not my problem

>No, you don't need to adjust pushrod length EVER with hydraulic lifters. you adjust plunger preload.
lol

>both hydrosolid and hydraulic lifters need to be adjusted
pushrods length has to be adjusted regardless of the lifter, this is basic geometry

>(the original topic)
being OHC vs pushrods, not pushrods v8s, read the OP

also, just for the record
http://www.hotrod.com/articles/setting-pushrod-length/
>Let’s assume you check several rockers and all your pushrods are too short. The best way to establish the proper length is to use an adjustable checking pushrod. Crane, Isky, and others offer adjustable pushrods, but the slickest tool is made by Comp Cams.

tell us more about pushrod v8s not using adjustable pushrods

>as you would never run an engine with an adjustable pushrod.
I never said you did, that just you grasping at straws

>be pushrodcuck
>change valvetrain
>need to determine pushrod length
>use adjustable pushrods to determine length
>measure it wrong
>order solid pushrods
>install them
>turn engine one
>wreck your shit

two can play the cherrycpicking game anon
