Briggs single flatheads are THE BEST FUCKING ENGINES ever made, period.

The really little ones that have the carb inside of the gas tank sometimes have carb issues, but any of the ones that have a normal carb are epic. Picture related.

Small engine and diesel don't mix unless you get lucky In the used market. If you want cheap get a predator 212 or 420 new, or get like 5 used 5 horse briggses for the same.

Far cheaper, more prevalent, more output, compatible with the entirety of gx parts and aftermarket and applications, get it at any hf
Only thing I like Briggs for over predators is the upright vs slant cylinder
