Is it a good idea to purchase a cheap car for less than $2,500 that I found on carfax? I need a car immediately and one that I can afford. I don't want to make car payments, just something to get me around town and back and forth to work everyday with cold air.
I've had good luck with cars with 150,000+ miles in the past so milage isn't a big issue, I'll have the car inspected before purchase anyway if I can.

Most cars in the <$2,000 price range are Civics, Camrys, and Malibus. All good cars. Some of them are 2 owners too. Might pull the trigger on one of these bad boys next week. Just don't want to buy a POS and it needs a new engine leaving the dealer parking lot.

just post your local craigslist.

Why wouldn't it be a good idea to buy a car for less than 2500?
You just have to be discerning. Half the shit on CL is dealers posting junk on the by owner section. So def get them checked out.
Or go talk to your mechanic. I was recently in your position. My mechanic actually gave me a lead on one of his other regulars who bought a new car and was selling the previous for cheap. And he gave it the go ahead because he'd been servicing it for 8 years.
