Winners pay losers. That is, the models and makes that are profitable fund the money losing makes and models. In the distant past, GM could afford to do that when it had such a huge market share. But GM has shrunk a lot, so there isn't a lot of spare profit to support non-profitable ideas or to take a lot of risks.

That's one consequence of competition when everything gets lean for all the companies. All the fatty projects that used to occur no longer occur or get funded. But that's what you wanted with all the people in /o/ always wishing GM to fail and die off.

Korean cars are on the rise and they're taking their market share by force, China and India are starting to creep in too.

the days of experimental car models like the fiero, MR2, and Prowler is long gone.
