hey /o/, just got my 2nd car ever, first rwd stick shift car that I want to work on and put some money in. It's a 96 Miata. What should I do first? It was maintained fine, kept mostly stock besides a glass window instead of plastic, and still pretty low miles.
I was thinking
>new stereo (stereo is currently broken)
>a few /osg/ sticks
>new rims / tires
>roll bar
what would y'all recommend?

Keep it stock, stop ruining good cars
If you really want to, upgrade the suspension for better handling

I'm not gonna hoon it, but the stock rims are fucking ugly and a roll bar would just be for safety because convertible. Also the radio was already upgraded, it's just not working. Might look into suspension though

>I'm not going to hoon it
thats what they all say
>>17686698
>calls wheels rims
>stickers
>roll bar obviously for looks
sell it and go back to riding the bus
>>17686737
>I'm not gonna hoon it
then why'd you buy it faggot
>>17686698
>>17686737
>bought a miata
>not going to hoon it
So why did you buy it? and do you know what hooning means?
I drove a stock miata once. it was terrible. never again.
>/osg/ stickers
cancer
>new rims/tires
15x8 Enkei RPF1's or 15x8 Kosei K1's on 205 tires. (dont get cheap shitty tires)
>Rollbar
Hard dog rollbar, also no point in getting a rollbar if you aren't hooing it.
Suspension is a must tho. get new coilovers or something man.

I just meant not to the point where I can't use it as my daily driver. I don't want to keep it fully stock and i don't want to irreversibly chop it up. I just want it to look cool and drive nice as it's my only car. I'm not gonna stick it up a ton like some people in that thread do btw lol, just a little.
also,

how can i learn what tires work best? I have a few local shops as I live in a small town, I would most likely just be buying from them.
Also, I'll check out the hard dog rollbar and definitely will look into suspension then. thank you

faggot
>>17686698
Roll bar for what ? You aren't breaking any neck with that piece of shit.
Sway bars and bushings are first suspension upgrades, then just drive it a while to see what you want to upgrade next.

where would be a good place to look for these? I have a few local auto shops and a few tire shops in my small town, or should i order online?

You are not going to find suspension parts for your miata at your local auto shop lmao.
Unless you happen to live near Flying Miata.
but yes welcome to 2017. we have computers have the tip of your fingers. Do some fucking research. Miata aftermarket is huge and could be found on the internet easily.

no reason not to get some new coils. I live in florida and got coils as my first upgrade. IT honestly wasn't that worth it due to how flat everything was but this is still a great place to start the build. Get an LSD if you want to slide around on dirt or snow though.
