Do I change the transmission fluid or not, guys? I have no way of finding when it was last changed and I know bmw's "lifetime fluid" is bs but if I change it theres a chance that the shit will start slipping but I'm also trying to keep a $300 problem from becoming a $4000 problem. I need advice you guys I love this car and want to keep it around for as long as possible.

You should check if theres actually any fluid left inside. Transmission leaks can be pretty sneaky.

What the fuck?
E39 uses coil over plug direct ignition.

3 series comes with "lifetime fluid" for auto transmission which could mean warranty lifetime, transmission lifetime, or car lifetime. And a lot of these like power steering dont apply to my model
Also I've neglected or at least doubled these recommendations with no repercussions.
Ex: Replaced the O2 sensors at 185k-ish and replaced plugs and coils at 186

Lol

it means lease lifetime

Too bad the direct drive pill is suppository

Yes, replace the fucking fluid. It isn't going to hurt anything. If your transmission slips more after replacing fluid it's time for a new clutch.
