yall think ut would be hard to do a manual transmission swap in a crown vic?

y tho?

it wouldn't be a novice job for sure but a mustang transmission would work you would have to delete all the linkages and systems for the stock column shifter and cut a hole in the floor for a new shifter or do it the hard way and make it a column five speed which i'm not sure why you would do that, you would have to reconnect the speedometer and possible rewire it too to work with the new transmission
Makes for a fun car.

The hardest part of the swap is the pedals. Everything else is near bolt in.

Its actually pretty easy from what my dad told me. Someone paid him to do it and brought in the transmission from a mustang of the same year, plus whatever other parts he needed. Not sure how much he spent to do it, but cant be that much honestly.
Making the pedals and adjusting the computer to not look for the transmission are the most difficult parts.

The 4R70W is electronically controlled, you're not killing anything by ripping out the column shift and everything connected to it along with the tranny. That and some Crown Vics did come with a floor mounted shifter anyway, it was called the LX Sport (the Marauder had one as well).

These anons are right, most of the drivetrain is shared with the fourth gen Mustang GT, including the auto tranny.
I thought some early panther cars had manual optional.

Don't think so, unless it was a really rare thing- the original LTDs and Marquis had a three speed auto, the next generation (LTD Crown Vic and Grand Marquis, as the lower-trim LTD and Marquis were put on the Fox platform) had the four speed AOD, and from 92 (Aero body) onwards Ford updated the 4-speed auto from the AOD to the AODE, then the 4R70W, then the 4R75W.

Pier has been making manual swap pedal assemblies for at least half a decade now.

Nope, though you could get a 3 speed FMX in the early box days
