Hello /o/, I have a question.
I'm looking to buy an Impreza WRX (non-STI) and my choices basically boil down to
>1st gen WRX (GT in europe)
>2nd gen WRX bugeye
Which one do I get?
I do not particularly care about later resale value. Let's say both choices cost the same and are in similar condition. They also have similar mileage.
pic sorta related obviously
1st gen

bug eye a cute

Why?
>>17666827
I like them more
>>17666838
Yeah but why?

2nd gen
Younger car is always a better choice than the older car

I know but I specifically don't want to take this into account since the GC will be a 2000 whereas the GD will be a 2001.

I think they look better.

>Which one do I get?
I find the first gen to have a better quality interior for some reason. Mechanically they are not that different, but bugeyes were a new platform and may have had more problems. I have no idea how it is actually, but usually new models come with their quirks.

I'd go with the 1st gen. It's a better investment than the bugeye, it's better looking than the bugeye, and it weighs less too. Just a better car overall.

Isn't it more... raw? Plus while the front does look better, the rear looks really aged.
i like the big eye

>Isn't it more... raw?
that's the point.

>Isn't it more... raw?
Yes. Is that a bad thing?

>>17666924
Not saying it's bad, just asking. Can you guys actually expand more on the handling differences? Is it harder to drive?

Simply from a weight standpoint, the gc8 would be "easier" to drive due to its light weight. However, we're talking about cars that were only a few years apart. So there won't be that big of a difference in driver aids. Both should have abs and power steering. Whether or not the car is easy to drive depends more on the skill of the driver.
